3 Biography Olivia Marcheline is an Australian business based in Melbourne, Victoria, specialising in original antique and vintage accessories. We highly adore and respect the craftsmanship of artisans from yesteryears. It gives us much pleasure to share the experience of admiring the exquisite beauty and fine workmanship of every piece. 4 About our items Costume jewellery was initially intended to imitate fine jewellery. During the 15th to the 17th century, costume jewellery was worn during daytime, while fine jewellery was reserved for evening wear. The development of costume jewellery progressed further during the early years of the Victorian Era, also known as the Romantic period. Due to the popularity of costume jewellery, pieces were mass produced which then spurred the development of the Arts and Crafts movement in the early 20th century. From the Arts and Crafts movement, the worldrenowned Parisian Art Nouveau was born. When the First World War broke out, fine jewellers of the time were forced to create fine jewellery reproductions in order put food on the table. These artisans were ashamed to sign the reproduced pieces in fear of tarnishing their reputations. Although they used semi or non-precious materials, the finished products were of high-calibre comparable to fine jewellery. In the 1930s Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli, two outstanding names in fashion history, mastered the art of accessorising with fine and costume jewellery for ready-to-wear apparel. Hollywood glamour greatly influenced the fashion industry, costume jewellery graced the stars on the silver screen and became widely-accepted throughout the world. Today, we are enjoying the historical beauty of costume jewellery. Salvatore Ferragamo Salvatore Ferragamo (1898-1960) was an Italian shoe designer known for introducing the 'cage-heel' and the 'wedge heel' into fashion history.

5 Salvatore Ferragamo Salvatore Ferragamo ( ) was an Italian shoe designer known for introducing the 'cage-heel' and the 'wedge heel' into fashion history. He famously worked with Hollywood celebrities in the 1920s, and prior to returning to Italy, founded the company offering handmade footwear. 6 Destino Destino was a designer brand of cufflinks established in 1958 by Ralph Destino Sr and Ralph Destino Jr. The Destino name was well-known for making high-quality gold-filled and sterling silver cufflinks with semi-precious stones. When Destino Sr passed away in 1971, the company was sold, and Destino Jr joined Cartier. Today he is Cartier's Chairman of the Board. Jeanne Lanvin started her trade in millinery. In 1909, she started creating haute couture gowns, then expanded to men s fashion in 1926, decorations in 1920 and perfumes. Lanvin became the ambassador of French elegance, and grew her label into a significant part of fashion history, becoming an empire. She drew inspiration from her daughter, who then succeeded her mother in 1946 and remained to operate the Lanvin fashion house until her death in Since 1993, the House has focused on luxury goods including ready-to-wear apparel, accessories and perfumes. He established his business in 1947 in Outremont, home to wealthy French Canadians. This established his exclusivity and helped reinforce a notion of high-quality and individuality. Most of their jewellery features brilliant marquis-cut rhinestones and Swarovski Aurora Borealis crystals. During the late 1940s and the early 1950s, some Sherman jewellery was only distinguished from its hang tag but the pieces were largely unsigned. 15 Céline Céline was founded in 1945 by Céline Vipiana, originally created as a custom, made-tomeasure children s shoe brand that expanded into women s shoes as well as accessories. Céline s ready-to-wear line began in the 1960s, and Céline herself designed from 1945 to Michael Kors was the first designer and creative director for the House in Today, it is owned and operated by LVMH. David Husar David Husar was a Czech jeweller who made vintage jewellery out of antique and vintage parts. His famed atelier was in Jablonec, Czech Republic.

Most of his pieces feature grand elegance and glamour, with various sizes and cuts of every colour rhinestone and other semi-precious gems known to man. 23 Wilardy Originals Wilardy Originals was a bag company which specialised in manufacturing Lucite and Bakelite purses during the 1950s. They also supplied bags to Hollywood films such as Private Hell 36 (directed by Don Siegel, a two-time Academy award winner). Lucite purses were very popular during the 1950s. In the 1940s, Lucite was introduced and purses made of this material are now considered as wearable works of art.
