1 June 2018 Dear parent/carer and student, The Academy Dress Code As we approach the end of the academic year, I would like to inform you of our expectations regarding uniform at St Peter s CVA from September Many students wear our uniform and present themselves to an outstanding professional standard and, as an academy dedicated to excellence for every student, we are committed to ensuring the same standard is modelled and maintained by every member of our student population. As an academy with a strong focus on preparing students for the world of work, we believe it is important to maintain the highest expectations for professional dress and ensure that a clear focus on learning is maintained at all times. A lack of consistency in uniform standards can create a distraction for students from the learning experience and, at worst, puts pressure on students to compete with their peers on matters regarding their appearance. Over the last year, we have worked closely with families to introduce and the new uniform standards. As of September 2018 we will expect all of students to meet these standards every day. Students who refuse will be sent home to return when the uniform is corrected. School bags At St Peter s our highest performing students are well organised, always have correct equipment and are ready to learn. In order to help all students achieve this, governors have added to uniform expectations, the requirement for every student to bring a school bag every day to the academy containing a fully stocked pencil case and school planner.

2 A schoolbag must be practical. This means it must be able to fit an A4 ringbinder inside and should protect contents in wet weather. Fashion bags do not always meet these criteria. In order to give your child the best chance of organising themselves successfully, please ensure they have the most appropriate equipment. PE PE lessons are not just about physical activity but also about learning about teamwork and leadership. As such, all students are expected to wear full PE kit for every PE lesson, even if they are not taking an active part in the lesson. If students/parents/carers have any doubts about the acceptability of clothing, hairstyles or jewellery please contact the Academy in advance of September. We would rather provide advice ahead of the new term than be faced with a potential problem that may lead to a correction (C1-C4) if not addressed. St Peter s aims to support every family in meeting uniform expectations. 3 Only trousers with academy logo on Skinny jeans/trousers/leggings/jeggings are not Elastane/stretchy fitted trousers are not on any day Students who arrive wearing these will be given formal trousers to change into or be sent home. Only skirts with academy logo on Elastane/stretchy fitted skirts are not Skirts must not be rolled up and must not be above the knee Any other form of skirt is not Shirts and Blouses A plain white shirt, with a fastening top button and full collar All garments worn under blouses/shirts must also be white Must be tucked into skirt or trousers School Bag Must fit an A4 ring binder/a4 books Must be secure to protect contents with a zip etc. Must contain pencil case (including two pens, a pencil and ruler) and planner Coloured articles of clothing under shirts is not permitted. For example: coloured football tops or t-shirts, coloured sports bras and bras etc. T-shirts/vests etc. worn under shirts should be plain white. Fashion bags that do not fit a ring binder and pencil case are not permitted.

4 Ties Must be worn covering the top button of the shirt collar and down to the waistband of the trousers or skirt. Boots are not acceptable including Dr Martens, UGG or Kickers Boots unless medical evidence is provided Make up & Beauty Treatments No makeup of any kind is False nails or false eyelashes are not Hair All hair reaching shoulder length must be tied up into one ponytail, one bun or one / two plaits worn to the rear of the head. Black/brown bobbles are Plain hair grips or plain black/brown/white headbands are Special Consideration Items worn because of religious beliefs e.g. hijab must be plain black with a plain pin.
