PCA 2018 SLU 201 STUDENT AGREEMENT FORM 1. As a participant in SLU 201, I will conduct myself with integrity so as to be an effective ambassador of Jesus Christ and Pantego Christian Academy. I understand that if I fail to do so, I may not be allowed to participate in SLU I understand that this is a training conference--not a vacation or group tour--and the focus of it is leadership training. I will therefore strive to conduct myself as an ambassador for Christ by holding myself to the highest moral and personal standards. 3. I will not engage or condone any activities or behaviors that might hinder the ministry or damage the reputation of Jesus Christ and Pantego Christian Academy. 4. I will attend periodic training meetings during lunch during the school year. 5. I will strive to prepare myself for the purpose of this trip by regularly spending time with God in personal Bible study and prayer. 6. If there is any issue between a fellow participant and myself (student or staff), I will strive to resolve it with a humble spirit prior to the trip. If an issue arises on the trip, I will strive to resolve it with a humble spirit as soon as possible and not spread it to others. 7. I will follow all of the instructions of all PCA staff, chaperones, SLU 201 staff, and any other outside staff with whom we will be working with a positive attitude. 8. I will exercise self-control and self-discipline in order to minimize the amount of personal supervision that is required for me. 9. I accept responsibility for the general morale of the team and will strive to maximize the positive influence that I can have on others. 10. I will strive to maintain a positive attitude at all times and will not whine or complain to chaperones or other students about sleeping arrangements or who gets to do what, when, where, etc. 11. In all meetings and training sessions, I commit myself to being a role model in the way that I pay attention and actively participate. 12. If l am currently "dating" someone who is attending SLU 201, our relationship will not be obvious and will not be a distraction (even if we break up while on the trip). 13. I will abide by the dress code at all times without complaining. 14. If I mess up, I will fess up and accept the consequences of my actions without arguing or complaining. Potential consequences for not adhering to the expectations detailed above include disciplinary actions up to being sent home from the trip at your family s expense.

SLU 201 DRESS CODE & PACKING TIPS What is the dress code for SLU 201? As we train young leaders, we want them to grasp the importance of dressing appropriately for the environment and maintaining an appearance that honors Christ. Due to the nature of the week and the opportunities that the students will have during the week, it is important that the students dress appropriately. We have included some guidelines as well as a dayby-day suggested packing list. Please note: While the clothing items needed by the students should not change, the day they are worn may change. Remember, please dress modestly. If any SLU or PCA staff finds you dressed outside of these guidelines, you will be asked to change. General Dress Guidelines Shirts and dresses should fully cover the front, back, and sides. Any sleeveless shirts or dresses should have a strap of at least 3 fingers width across. No spaghetti straps, racerback tops, or tanks with oversize arm holes should be worn. Shorts, dresses, and skirts worn at SLU 201 (both during and outside of conference hours) must be no more than 2-4 inches from the knee. Leggings worn by themselves as pants are not acceptable. Leggings may be worn as an accessory under a skirt or dress that already meets the 2-4 inches from the knee guidelines. Basically, as you will see below, you need four business casual outfits, two business professional / nicer outfits (Day 2 / Night 4), and one casual outfit (Night 2). It is generally very hot and sometimes rainy in Washington during this time of the year, so cool, breathable clothing, a rain poncho, and a backpack to carry water while touring is a good idea. Jeans and shorts are only permitted on Night 2 while touring the monuments. Comfortable shoes should be worn while we are out touring in Washington--your feet will thank you! Day-by-Day Breakdown Day 1 = Business Casual For men, dress pants or khaki pants and button-down or collared shirts should be worn. For women, dress pants, khaki pants, casual dresses, or dressy calf-length capris should be worn (Please note: knee length capris are considered shorts and are not appropriate business casual attire). Jeans and shorts are not permitted. Day 2 = Business Professional during the day / Casual at night During the day, men should wear a coat and tie plus dress pants or khaki pants. Women should wear dresses, skirts, dress pants, or suits during the day. Flip-flops are not appropriate while in business professional attire. In the evening, enjoy your one casual night while you tour the monuments! Jeans and shorts are okay was well as t-shirts as long as there are no questionable slogans. Day 3 = Business Casual (same as Day 1) Day 4 - Business Casual during the day (same as Day 1) / Business Professional in the evening (same as Day 2 during the day) This evening is your chance to dress up--we are going to the National Press Club. Coat and tie for the men along with dress pants, and dresses, skirts, dress pants, or

suits for the ladies (no prom dresses, please). Flip-flops are not appropriate while in business professional attire. Day 5 = Business Casual (same as Day 1) General Packing List Toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothbrush/toothpaste, razor, deodorant, brush/comb, etc.) Glasses / contact lenses / sunglasses Necessary medications (must be checked in with chaperones) Bible / pen Spending money o All meals from dinner on Monday through breakfast on Friday are provided, but you may want money for snacks plus food while in transit. o There is a great bookstore at SLU 201! o Bus driver & guide tips. All participants should bring $10 total for this. We have a great opportunity to say thank you to our drivers and guides for the week.

Student name Address City, State, Zip Date Dear, PCA Student Leadership University 201 This summer through Student Leadership University at my school, I have the opportunity to take a trip to Washington D.C. for a leadership conference. I will visit our nation s capital, see famous monuments, and learn how to lead in my peer group. But even more importantly, I will learn about developing the heart of a patriot as we discuss how our country was founded, and I will get to see our government structure in action. As a practice in responsibility, I am raising the money to go on this trip myself through (insert however you are planning on raising money for SLU 201) and raising support through others. The total cost of the trip is $1, Would you be willing to invest in me as I learn more about our great country and develop additional leadership skills? Thank you for considering it! If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them. My cell phone number is (123) and my address is john.smith@pantego.com. If you would like to help, you can make a check payable to me and mail it to 1234 Main St., Arlington, TX If you would prefer to donate online, you can do so at So your donation is credited to my account, click the Other option under the Designation heading and type SLU John Smith in the box immediately below the Other option. Thank you so much for your consideration, Your name Class of 20

Student name Address City, State, Zip Date Dear, PCA Student Leadership University 201 Thank you so much for supporting me for my leadership trip to Washington D.C.! I visited the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Washington Monument, Arlington National Cemetery, the Capital, the Holocaust Museum, and dinner at the Press Club. I also had the opportunity to listen to 13 different speakers during the week such as the Chaplain of the U.S. Senate Barry Black, Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, Colonel Kim Poole, and the Vice President of Field Development of Chick-fil-A Mark Miller. Here are some of the main points I took away from their talks: Leaders see the invisible, hear the inaudible, think the unthinkable, believe the unbelievable, attempt the impossible, and achieve the supernatural. God s provision for my life is God s presence in my life. Be a thermostat and set the spiritual temperature for those around you, not a thermometer who changes according to the temperature of society. The salt of the law can change habits, but only the light of the gospel can change hearts. We need to cultivate proactivity for acting - God blesses those who do something! Learn to be satisfied with gradual development. The greatest line of defense is a patriot on their knees in prayer. Leadership Character Traits: Hunger for Wisdom Expect the Best Accept Responsibility (Never Place Blame) Respond with Courage Think Others First Thank you again for your support and your investment in me as a leader! Your name Class of 20
