1 For Immediate Release MERCEDES-BENZ STYLO ASIA FASHION WEEK AWARDS HONOURS ASIA S FINEST Malaysia Fashion Week 2016, a project by INTRADE, concludes with a celebration of world-class talents Kuala Lumpur, 5 November 2016 A total of nine awards were given out at the Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week Awards Gala, as part of the closing ceremony for this year s Malaysia Fashion Week (MFW). The winners were selected for their contribution in developing the region s fashion industry. The Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week, hosted yearly in Malaysia brought together international designers from ASEAN as well as East Asia to the MFW 2016 stage. The award categories were divided into two main segments namely Professor Dato Jimmy Choo Award (Next Designer of the Year 2016 : Accessories and Next Designer of the Year 2016 : Fashion) and Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week Award (Asia s Most Influential Designer 2016; Exhibitor of the Year 2016; MODESTyle Designer of The Year 2016; Most Promising Fashion Award 2016; Exhibition of The Year 2016; Emerging Designer of the Year 2016 and Malaysian Fashion Showcase Award 2016). Held at the specially built MFW 2016 Fashion Cube located at the Menara MATRADE, the Gala evening was a glitzy affair as the guest all came dressed to their nines to honour the best in the fashion industry among industry peers, friends and colleagues. Among the VIP guests at the event include President & CEO, Mercedes Benz Malaysia, Mr. Claus Weidner; Mark Raine, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Mercedes Benz Malaysia; Dato Noraini Ahmad, Chairman of (MATRADE); Dato Nancy Yeoh, President & CEO of STYLO International and co-chairman of MFW 2016; as well as a host of dignitaries, celebrities, industry representatives, media and officials from MATRADE. Speaking at the Gala evening, Raine said that Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week plays a significant role in cultivating the booming fashion industry in Malaysia and around Asia, which is in tandem with the growing lifestyle influence for luxury cars. Through this platform, young and affluent audiences can engage and connect directly with the brand. Each year the Mercedes-Benz customer profile gets younger and younger similar with the fashion industry profile.

2 Our association with fashion and arts solidify our recognition of craftmanship in every detail just like in every piece of Mercedes-Benz that we build. And it is with this that we continue to support the industry by way of award recognition. Tonight, as we conclude our 4-day showcase of the Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week 2016 with Malaysia Fashion Week, I would like to congratulate all the designers for their fabulous collections, added Raine. Dato Nancy Yeoh, President and CEO of STYLO International said, Through STYLO s partnership with Mercedes-Benz and MATRADE for the MFW 2016, we hope to encourage and promote budding Asian fashion talents to the global fashion arena. Tonight, we will honour the best of Malaysian and ASEAN fashion designers as well as participants of the Malaysia Fashion Week through the Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week Awards which we hope will spur their interest to go further in the fashion world. It has been a fabulous occasion and tonight s event is a fitting closing for this year s MFW, which has been billed as the best one yet. 4 fashion and lifestyle exhibition with 308 exhibition booths spread over 32,800 square feet. With the overall theme of Fashion Inclusivity, the event showcased the diversity of Malaysian fashion and lifestyle industry and featured items such as trendy streetwear, evening gowns and dresses, modern batik, modest wear, accessories, beauty and hair products, skincare and cosmetics to traditional handwoven fashion designs from the Peranakan and indigenous tribes of East Malaysia. 5 FACT FILE MALAYSIA FASHION WEEK 2016, A PROJECT BY INTRADE 1) INTRADE exhibition A fashion trade exhibition to support and showcase fashion and its related industries. The exhibition will include local and international designers, manufacturers and players covering the following categories / clusters: Fashion, Apparels & Accessories Beauty, Hair & Cosmetics Jewellery Arts & Handicrafts Lifestyle & Interior Textile & Peripherals 2) Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week (MBSAFW) MFW 2016 also sees the injection of luxury automaker, Mercedes-Benz presenting the Asian segment called Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week (MBSAFW) to further boost the trade fashion event. MBSAFW presents a list of the best Asian designers from various Asian countries with MFW serving as a platform to showcase their creations. Ranked as the 30th fashion week in the world, this Asia for Asia fashion week will feature international designers from 15 countries from the ASEAN and Asian region. Malaysia Fashion Week will be held from 2-5 November 2016 at MATRADE Exhibition &Convention Centre (MECC), Jalan Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Malaysia.
