1 Product information General information about the special materials and scratchproofness of Rado watches. Behind the name Rado stands a philosophy: the continuous endeavour to create products outstandingly different in design, materials and quality serving the aims of functionality, wearercomfort and ageless beauty. For this reason, Rado works with hard metals made from tungsten- and titanium-carbides, with scratchproof sapphire crystal and with space-proven high-tech ceramics. It is thanks to these especially resistant materials that, with normal wear, your Rado will keep its beauty and brilliance for years. However, in extreme cases, Rado s exceptional materials may be damaged by equally hard or harder materials such as diamond, corundum, metallic oxides or quartz crystals. Grindstones, sandpaper, nail files, granite surfaces, concrete walls etc. may contain particles of such materials and thus cause scratching. Therefore, a certain amount of care should be taken. Damages caused by such materials are not covered by the international guarantee. NB: Hard-metals, sapphire crystal and high-tech ceramics are scratchproof but they are not indestructible hard knocks or dropping the watch onto a hard surface

2 should absolutely be avoided. Traces on the sapphire crystal that seem to be scratches are often only deposits (e.g. of aluminium or glass) and can be easily removed by an authorized Rado dealer or Rado service centre. Swiss precision The name Rado guarantees a Swiss quality watch movement of the greatest precision. Theoretical deviation in timekeeping: quartz watches: maximum 15 seconds per month; automatic watches; 5 to +20 seconds per day; lower tolerances for chronometer movements. Water-resistance Water-resistant Rado watches have the word Watersealed engraved on the case back. These watches can withstand water pressure up to a depth of 30 m (100 feet). To ensure permanent water-resistance the watch must be checked by an authorized Rado dealer or Rado Service Centre once a year or after every battery change. Sapphire crystal Rado sapphire crystals are distinguished by their scratchproofness and brilliance. Every Rado watch is fitted with a scratchproof sapphire crystal. Jubilé versions Rado watches with the designation Jubilé are exquisitely decorated with genuine diamonds on the dial and in some versions on the case and bracelet. Quartz watches Rado quartz watches are equipped with Swiss top-quality batteries. The battery must be changed when the second hand starts to move in 4-second intervals. The accuracy of your Rado watch is still not impaired, but the battery

3 should be changed within the next few days. Battery exhaustion in a watch without second hand becomes apparent only when the hands completely stop moving. Important: the exhausted battery should be changed as soon as possible in order to avoid the risk of electrolyte leaking at and damaging the movement. Please make sure that your Rado is checked for water-resistance after every battery change (see Waterresistance ). Automatic watches You are the source of free energy yourself, just by moving your arm when wearing the watch. A fully wound Rado automatic watch has a power reserve of at least 36 hours. If the watch stops (i.e. if it has not been worn for more than 36 hours) it must be wound again with the crown in position 0. Accustar watches You are the source of free energy yourself, just by moving your arm when wearing the watch. A fully wound Rado Accustar watch has a power reserve of about 100 days. If the watch stops it must be wound again with the crown in position 0.

4 Instructions for use Crown positions 0= normal position (crown pushed completely in) 1= quick correction of date display 2= correction of time display 012 Instructions for quartz watches Setting the time For correction of hours, minutes and seconds, pull the crown out to position 2. Set the correct time by turning the crown forwards or backwards. If the watch has a second hand, this hand remains still in crown position 2. The seconds can be synchronized with the official time signal by pushing the crown back to position 0. For watches with date display and turn it to the desired date. See that the time is correctly set and that 12 o clock midday is not confused with 12 o clock midnight.
