It s a very long list this time containing a lot of new information. I did not list everything, which was published in the Catalogue of Palaearctic Coleoptera, volume 3. The new acts and comments cover 21 pages in this book. I hope that I did not forget something you wrote to me. If so, please tell me that I can bring it in the next issue of BUPRESTIS. FORUM The newest edition of the Electronic buprestid newsletter can be found at: Already a long time ago Chuck BELLAMY sent me the following warning: A WARNING ABOUT CHEMICAL FUMIGANTS! The common 'no pest strip' [chemical name: dichlorvos, trade names: DDVP, vapona, duravos] is used in insect collections both large and small, both public and private. There are data suggesting that exposure to this chemical, an organophosphate, may have connections to several serious health conditions. Included are possible connections between this chemical, or class of pesticides, and the following diseases that have taken several notable coleopterists including: Gayle Nelson died on Sept. 24, 2005 of multiple myeloma and his doctor reportedly asked him "have you ever been exposed to vapona?" Gayle had used vapona as a fumigant in his large collection over the years. Sebastian Endrödy-Younga, Transvaal Museum, Pretoria, died February 26, 1999 of motor neuron(e) disease. The Coleoptera Department in Pretoria was overly fumigated with vapona for many years. Ms. Nancy Adams, was a collection manager at the U.S. National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington. She died in September 2005 of non-hodgkin's lymphoma. and I was successfully treated for non-hodgkin's lymphoma in mid-2000 while working in the Coleoptera Department, Transvaal Museum. And then there is a letter from Svata BÍLÝ: Dear friends, on July 1, 2007 I was retired and I finished my official work in the National Museum. I had been working in the Dept. of Entomology 30 years and during this period I was in contact with most of the Buprestophiles in the World. I would like to thank you for your cooperation, help and many nice personel meetings. 3 My retirement is not the end of my work on Buprestidae, of course. On the countrary, I hope I will have now more time for beetles since I will not be wasting time with endless and stupid museal administrative. I would like to finish a few long-term projects (revisions of Chalcogenia, N American Melanthaxia, Mexican Agrilaxia) and to describe step by step tens and tens of undescribed Anthaxia which I have gathered during my life.
