1 UNIFORM POLICY 1. The purpose of the uniform is to act as a visible sign of the union of all students striving towards the same goal. By wearing their uniform, students represent the Academy and its noble purpose, namely the Catholic education of youth, the living of an ordered, life submitted to the rule of order and the sanctification of their souls. Care must accordingly be shown to the uniform, to its neatness and tidiness. 2. During school hours, all students are to be in complete uniform. High school boys may remove their jackets in class, but they must wear them during Mass, and for assemblies. Students repeatedly without a complete uniform may be sent home. Students who do not possess the correct uniform items after a warning must purchase them from the school at a reasonable price. 3. Where prescribed, the gym uniform must be worn for gym class, but cannot be worn at other times during school hours. 4. The details of the uniform and gym uniform are to be found in the Appendices. 5. Neither boys nor girls are to wear any jewelry, except for a watch. Girls may wear a simple necklace with a holy medal, and small hoops or studs in their ear lobes to keep the pierced ears open. However, they may not wear earrings, make-up of any kind, nail polish or hair spray. Furthermore, their hair is to be worn pulled up and away from the face. Girls jumpers are to extend at least two three inches below the knee, and are to cover the knees entirely when seated. 6. Boys are to have their hair trimmed short back and sides, so that the hair is not on the collar, nor are they to wear side burns, or any facial hair.
