1. Hazard Notes Dangers regarding the handling of windows and doors Danger! Keep your fingers out! When operating window and door elements, take care not to get hurt by having your fingers caught in the spaces between frame and sash. Danger! Fall hazard! Open windows may cause a fall hazard. Do not leave open windows unobserved. Danger! Falling objects! Sudden gusts of wind and draughts may cause objects to fall out of open windows. Danger! Risk of injury! Open windows and doors are a serious risk of injury while you are working close to them. Before starting to work make sure to close doors and windows. Always make sure to close open windows and doors as soon as children enter the room. Danger! Risk of injury caused by sudden slams! Tilted windows and top-hung windows may suddenly slam after you have unlocked hardware parts. Swinging and turning window sashes may cause injury by sudden unforeseen movement during opening and closing. For more detailed safety recommendations please refer to the following pages.

Possible modes of operation: Operation by electrical motor Operation by remote winding gear Operation with gas strut For more information on motors and drives please refer to the Product Documentation.

2.9 Types of handles Without rose Flush encased gearbox / rebate concealed gear Geared handle Lockable 2.10 Child safety lock When the child safety lock is on, the turn function of the sash is blocked. The sash can now be put in tilt position only. Without locking, all functions are possible Night ventilation Windows with Tilt & Turn function may be equipped with an additional night ventilation device. For the night ventilation function, the sash is tilted towards the inside by approximately 7 mm, thus creating a gap for ventilation purposes. Sash is closed: The handle points downward. Night ventilation position: Move the handle upward by a quarter turn to the turn position. Then move the handle further upward by 45 until it snaps into the night ventilation position.

2.12 Anti-slam device Anti-slam device The anti-slam device damps the slamming shut of the window leaf due to the wind in the tilted position, thus preventing damage. The anti-slam device is already integrated in the stays; no additional parts need to be installed. Anti-slam devices are maintenance-free Opening restrictor An opening restrictor limits the opening angle of the window leaf in the turning position. The max. opening angle can be variably adjusted. In the case of the damped opening limiter, the slamming shut of the leaf due to the wind is also damped, thus preventing damage to the window leaf and the fittings. Opening restrictor 2.14 Snap fit Snap fits are mainly used in balcony doors. The snap fit keeps the door leaf shut even when it is unlocked. By pressing or pushing it lightly the leaf can be opened. Snap fits avoid the leaf opening by wind gusts while it is unlocked but closed.

3. Wrong usage Wrong usage may result in damage to the window! Do not leave any objects in the space between the frame and the open sash. Do not put any additional load onto the window sash or door leaf. Window sashes and door leaves may be pushed towards the window reveal in an uncontrolled way, for example due to wind gusts. Parts of the window/door (hardware etc.) could thus be damaged or destroyed. Do not press the window sash beyond the limit stop in order to avoid damage to hardware and sash.

4. Cleaning and care 4.1 General information Windows, doors, and curtain-wall façades should be cleaned and maintained regularly to ensure that they last in accordance with their expected life sp. The frequency of cleaning and maintenance control cycles depends on the location, the conditions of usage, and the local weather conditions, but also on materials and surfaces. Neglect of maintenance and care may result in a considerably shortened life cycle of the products with regard to materials, component, and surfaces. In the following chart, recommendations given by the ift Institute at Rosenheim/Germany are noted: Type of building Safety-relevant General intervals intervals Schools 6 months 12 months Hotels 6 months 12 months Offices 6 months 12 months Private residence 12 months 12 months Maintenance of individual components Profile surfaces Intervals Maintenance Anodization 6 months Cleaning/ Textile cloth Plastic coating 12 months Cleaning Glass surfaces 6 months Cleaning Gaskets 12 months Cleaning Hardware 12 months Check and lubrification Basically, all components must be checked for damage and deformation. This includes building materials interfaces and additional components are mounted, such as sun protection devices, shutters, hardware, special hardware, etc. Movable parts are also to be checked and lubricated with suitable media. 4.2 Cleaning and caring products To clean the components, use neutral multi-purpose cleaner (PH value between 5 and 8). Cleaning products containing aggressive substances, solvents, or scrubbing agents must not be used because they may result in damage to the surface. Profiles made of aluminium should be washed using a soft sponge or cloth, adding a neutral wetting agent (such as dishwashing detergent), and afterwards dried with a leather cloth. In case of soil that is difficult to remove, anodized profiles may be cleaned with the help of a neutral detergent and a non-woven fabric (such as Scotch-Brite Type A). Neutral cleaning detergents are best for colour coated profiles. Dirt sticking to the surface should be removed with utmost care with the help of a wooden or plastic scraper.! Please note: In order to avoid damage, always observe instructions given by the detergent manufacturer.

5. Maintenance 5.1 General information Your windows and doors come with high-quality system hardware. To ensure their long-lasting function and continuing easy movement, regular maintenance is essential. This includes checking all hardware s function and state according to the following criteria: Free movement Free and easy movement Fixation of the hardware components Wear and tear of hardware components Damage to hardware components. By using the window handle, the free movement of the hardware can be checked. The locking and unlocking moment of the handle is standardized in accordance with DIN 18055, featuring a value of max. 10 Nm to be measured at the window handle by using a dynamometric key. Easy movement may be improved by lubricating with grease or oil, and by readjusting the hardware components.! Please note: Faulty and inappropriate readjustment of hardware components may result in malfunction of the windows. Fixing of hardware components The correct function of the window/door and its safe usage depend on the reliable fastening of the hardware. The fit and fixing of each single screw should be checked. For example, screws that mayhave come loose or screw heads that have been torn off, the screws need to be pulled tight, or replaced. Wear and tear of hardware components All hardware parts relevant to safety and correct functioning are to be lubricated with grease or oil in order to avoid wear and tear. Damage to hardware components In case of damage, make sure to replace all load-bearing components. We recommend that only a specialist certified by RAICO is to carry out maintenance work.! Upon conclusion of a Maintenance Contract, the specialist certified by RAICO will carry out all maintenance and repair work. For a sample maintenance contract, please refer to the VFF Verband Fenster + Fassade (German Association Window + Façade) ( see How to clean drainage and ventilation openings Openings for drainage and ventilation purposes ensure that the water caused by condensation and rainfall is led to the outside in a controlled manner. For that reason please check regularly that all openings remain unobstructed and functional. Opening for drainage/ventilation Dust or other dirt particles in gaps and interspaces may be removed with the help of a vacuum cleaner. Soiled drainage/ventilation openings may be cleaned by using a thin piece of wood or plastic peg.

5.3 Taking care of gaskets To ensure elasticity, all gaskets should be treated with a grease stick or Vaseline. Check the gaskets for damage. Whenever you find damaged gaskets have them replaced by a specialist certified by RAICO. 5.4 Maintenance of hardware Maintenance is to be carried out as described on the following pages Maintenance guidelines for FRAME+ hardware Tilt & Turn hardware, surface-mounted (lubricate with grease or oil) For a more detailed description please refer to the Product Documentation.

5.4.2 Maintenance guidelines for FRAME+ hardware Tilt & Turn hardware, concealed (lubricate with grease or oil) Maintenance guidelines for FRAME+ hardware Turn-Only hardware (lubricate with grease or oil) For a more detailed description please refer to the Product Documentation.
