1 Instructor s Lesson Plan Aug Dec 2012 KEY STANDARDS Cammie Class Key Standard: Be able to wear the Marine Corps/JROTC MARPAT Green uniform IAW USMC Uniform Regulations and the JROTC Cadet Handbook. 1

2 Training aids: - CAMMIES = Cover, jacket, trousers, belt and buckle, green T shirt, socks, boots & boot bands CAMMIE CLASS Key Standard: Be able to wear the Marine Corps/JROTC MARPAT Green uniform IAW USMC Uniform Regulations and the JROTC Cadet Handbook. The first uniform JROTC cadets are issued is the Cammie Uniform. The Marine Corps and the Navy call them cammies, the Army B.D.U.s (Battle Dress Uniform). There are seven basic items to the Cammie Uniform 1. cover 2. green T shirt 3. cammie jacket 4. cammie trousers 5. web belt and buckle 6. socks (green or white) 7. boots and boot bands 1) THE COVER (aka hat) Must be marked on the tag inside the cover or on the sweat band, with the wearer s initials and platoon number. Cross out any previous markings! The cover is worn square on the head with the visor/bridge or bill of the cover on line with the eyebrows When not wearing your cover, you should put it in your right front cargo pocket. Females; hair will be neat and feminine. If your hair style prevents the wearing of a cover, you ll have to change the style of your hair. Hair bands, barrettes, etc. may not show and must be the same color as the hair. No faddish hair styles or colors are allowed. 2) GREEN T SHIRT - Must be worn 3) CAMMIE JACKET - Worn with all buttons, except the top one, buttoned. The jacket is not taken off unless approved by the Col. 2

3 The sleeves are worn up or down as per Col s direction. If up, The fold is approx. 4 wide and folded up to a position approximately 1 above the inside bend or break of the arm and elbow. When you are promoted, position your rank properly. If you forget how to position your rank insignia properly, there is an example in your cadet handbook. 4) CAMMIE TROUSERS Worn with waistband positioned at or above the hip bone. - Min length of trousers must be long enough to blouse properly i.e.: between the second and third eyelet when the knee is bent. - No maximum length - - but boots are bloused between the 2 nd and third eyelet. Trousers are the right length if the trousers can be properly bloused. - All buttons are buttoned, a belt must be worn. 5) WEB BELT AND BUCKLE - Belt tip goes to the wearer s left with the tip no more than 4 past the buckle s left edge and no less than 2 past the buckle s left edge. When the belt is not worn it should be kept in a boot with the boot bands. - The brass of the belt is anodized and does not require polishing. - Military alignment = the right edge of the buckle on line with the fly (button flap ) of the trousers and must be maintained military alignment is also known as Gig Line (Navy term). NOTE; DO NOT cut the web belt yourself. During your first cammie uniform inspection, your belt length will be checked and corrected if needed. If the belt tip is bent or scratched it will be replaced. 6) SOCKS White or black socks (may be issued) may be worn with the with the cammie uniform. 3

4 7) BOOTS Lacing Boots are laced with a Bridge over the top and then the left lace over the right, left over the right, left over toe the right, etc. Boots do not need to be polished but may occasionally need to be brushed. Care and Cleaning of Cammies Initial issue is clean Cleaning and Pressing Uniform can be cleaned in the washing machine and dried in the dryer or hung up. NOTE: Look for Irish Pennants (strings/threads) and remove via clipper (fingernail) Basic rules of appearance and conduct while in uniform. 1. Keep your hands out of your pockets! 2. Keep all buttons (except the very top button of the jacket buttoned! 3. Make sure you wear your cover properly. 4. Males proper haircut; faded / evenly graduated on the sides not blocked, proper shave and sideburns trimmed. 4

5 If your eyebrows have more hair than your mustache, then you don t have a mustache they are just nose hairs shave them off! Females proper hair length, hair style cannot prevent proper Wearing of cover. Length hair may not touch collar! 5. Don t open jacket Don t remove jacket Don t roll sleeves up or down unless told to do so!! Remember if another cadet corrects you when you are not in JROTC, they re trying to keep you out of trouble!! NOTE: When putting on rank insignia press gently and position correctly! See cadet handbook for proper positioning of rank!
