2 Therapy Technique Principles Epidermal and dermal pigmentation therapy Utilizes the explosive effect of the Nd: YAG laser, which permeates through the epidermis into the dermis containing the pigment mass. 8 About Treatment No hair follicle or skin harm; leaves no scar. Short treatment time and easy operation. High-quality, controlled solid-state laser complying with international standards. Tiny sense of pain, making anesthesia unnecessary in most cases. No side effects, no downtime, and no interruption of routine activities. Contra-indications: The special pigments may fall off and the common pigments may precipitate due to vaporization of the skin and death of the cuticle. Swelling or blood clot under the skin may occur, but it should recover within 20 to 60 days, varying with each individual s skin properties. Low energy densities (small spot) shall be used in the treatment of brown or red pigment with a 532nm wavelength laser. Operations are repeated several times if necessary, but need at least a two month interval in between. Before starting treatment, clients are informed of possible side effects. In some cases the pigment paint contains iron ions, which will cause the paint to oxidize and cause the treatment to fail. Washing with water and or incurring sunburn should be avoided after treatment to ward off possible infection or pigment precipitation.
