1 Thursday, 16 November 2017 Review Herbatint Permanent Hair Colour - 7N Blonde Over the years I've bleached and highlighted my hair not realising how much damage I've been doing, I used to use a ton of products and heat every day and I've never really had a hair care routine. It's only since switching to more natural products that I've really started thinking about my hair and how dry and damaged it has become and what sort of products I can use to get it back to a much healthier condition. Since being on this journey I've noticed that there's not really a lot of hair products out there, especially to dye your hair with. I took to the Internet and did a lot of searching and researching and found one that I really wanted to try...herbatint.

2 Now, I've seen lots of mixed reviews about this brand but mostly they've been good. Before I decided on which was the right colour i had to try and do a colour match. Usually you match from the ends of your hair so that it blends nicer but with this, because I wanted a much more natural shade I had to match my roots. Herbatint is a brand that's been around for more than 40 years. Antica specialises in permanent hair dyes formulated without Ammonia and based on vegetal extracts which are currently manufactured in Rome. They have a good range of hair care products and not just dyes. You can see that from years of bleaching and being a very platinum blonde shade my roots look so much darker. After colour matching my hair I ordered the 7N Blonde shade off

The great thing about this hair dye is that it's a permanent hair colour, it covers greys, it's also cruelty free and vegan. There's some good ingredients in this too. Aloe Vera - that helps to protect hair during colouring. Meadow foam - which adds moisture and shine. White Birch - which is used for it's toning and soothing properties. Cinchona Calisaya - That helps to strengthen and protect the scalp. Witch Hazel - That is rich in flavonoids and essential oils that also help to protect the scalp. Echinacea Angustifolia - This is a natural purifying agent and a moisturiser. Walnut - Intensifies colours, and is another purifying agent. Rhubarb - This is a colour enhancer and skin conditioner. These 8 organic herbal extracts in this that have been specifically selected to nourish your hair and scalp, enhance your hairs colour, intensity and leave you with natural, long lasting results. 4 Before you start make sure you have everything you'll need, and pop on those gloves and a towel so you don't get the dye everywhere. I bought this mixing bowl and brush from the 1 shop years ago and it's still going. Add half of each bottle into the bowl and mix it well until you get a nice gel like consistency. Each bottle also has a handy dandy measure window on the side so you know just how much to use.

5 Starting at the roots then working your way around your hair, it's much easier to section it off and do it that way so you avoid missing any and getting a patchy colour. Always do a patch test and strand test as well before you dye your hair to make sure you don't have any reactions.

It was really easy to use and apply, I can never usually dye my hair myself but this was really easy. It didn't burn, or itch while it was on. I found this to be a really pleasant experience.

It has been years since I had hair this dark and I really like it, it's great for the Autumn and it's so easy to manage. I left the dye on for the suggested time, then rinsed it out.

It didn't have that strong hair dye type smell. It looked so dark afterwards but after a couple of washes it started to lighten up. I followed it up with the shampoo and conditioner that you get with it and left it to dry on it's own. I have to admit, it's been a while since my hair has looked and felt as good as it did after dying. It's a really natural colour too, which some dyes do say you get but this one really does give a natural shade. My hair even looked shinier than before.

7 Overall, I'm really happy with the out come, I'm glad to have finally found a hair dye that doesn't cause damage to your hair. I'm excited to dye my hair again, whereas before it felt like a chore. I can also notice a massive difference in the condition since I've stopped using any heat on it too. I also really like the fact that for 9.50 you get 2 applications instead of the usual one. So I know when I'm due for a top up I have it ready and waiting. I also like the fact that you can add lighter or darker colours and mix your own shades. I will definitely be sticking to this brand and dying my hair at home, but I think when I do repurchase this I'll also pop in a lighter blonde shade to give my hair a bit of a lift and make it look like I've had it highlighted at the hairdressers.
