7 Rhinoplasty What is Rhinoplasty? Rhinoplasty is the surgery done to repair the appearance of a patient s nose and enhance facial harmony. It can also correct impaired breathing caused by structural defects in the nose. After a rhinoplasty, there is short-term healing and long-term healing. In short-term healing, most patients can return to work, comfortable and presentable, in about 10 days. In longterm healing, patients will see their final nose appearance after one year yet subtle changes may still continue. Most patients report little or no pain after nasal surgery. Blepharoplasty What is Blepharoplasty (Lower and Upper Eyelid cosmetics)? An eyelid lift or blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to remove skin and to add or remove fat from the eyelids. The primary cause of lower-lid aging is loosening of skin and the underlying muscle. Besides making you look older, severely sagging skin around your eyes can reduce your side vision (peripheral vision), especially the upper and outer parts of your field of vision. Blepharoplasty can reduce or eliminate these vision problems and make your eyes appear younger and more alert. Blepharoplasty is usually done on an outpatient basis. During the recovery time fine stitches are removed while bruising and swelling starts to decline. You can wear your make up starting from the 5th day. No contact lenses should be used for two weeks and you can go back to work from the 10th day onwards.

9 Forehead Lift, Brow Lift What is Forehead Lift, Brow lift? The brow or forehead lift raises the brows in order to remove the appearance of forehead wrinkles and frown lines. In other words, the main aim in this operation is to raise and rejuvenate the eyebrows. A forehead lift typically takes between one to two hours to perform. It is most commonly performed under IV sedation or twilight anesthesia. For endoscopic forehead lift patients, recovery usually occurs within a few weeks considering this technique is minimally invasive. The sutures are usually removed within seven to 10 days following surgery. If bandages have been used, they are removed in one to three days. Face Lifting What is Face Lifting? A facelift is a surgical procedure that tightens wrinkles and sagging skin on the face and neck caused by aging or weight loss. One of the main purposes of this operation is to make the skin look younger and more beautiful. Having a face-lift can make your appearance younger and healthier. A facelift can only be performed surgically; non-surgical rejuvenation treatments cannot achieve the same results. During your facelift recovery, a bandage might be placed around your face to minimize swelling and bruising once your procedure is completed. Chin Augmentation What is Chin Augmentation? A Chin Augmentation is a surgical procedure to create more definition and projection for a weak chin, improve the overall facial profile, draw attention to the eyes for a more elegant appearance, and increase the strength of facial features. It may be done either by inserting an implant or by moving or reshaping bones. Chin augmentation in other words mentoplasty is used to enhance the profile or facial contours and balance. You ll probably have the outside bandage removed within a week of surgery. You may be asked to wear a brace while you are sleeping for some weeks. You can resume light activity the day of surgery. You should be able to return to work and your usual activities within 5 7 days.

11 Botox- Filler Applications What is Botox, Filler Applications? Botox is a drug used to treat certain medical conditions. These include severe underarm sweating, severe muscle spasms in the neck and shoulders, and overactive bladder. Studies show that Botox may also help to relieve migraine headaches. It is also used to smooth wrinkles on the face. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, are used to treat firmly established wrinkles. There are many variations of soft tissue fillers available In addition to treating deep wrinkles, these cosmetics can alter the appearance of soft tissue, for example, they may be injected into the lips to make one s pout appear fuller. Botox injections usually require no recovery time and allow you to quickly return to your usual level of activity. Most will fill lines and wrinkles in less than 30 minutes with results that can last from 4 months to more than a year. Dermabrasion What is Dermabrasion? Dermabrasion is a surgical procedure used to refinish skin so that any irregularities on the surface of the skin are smoothed out. Dermabrasion is useful in removing acne and chicken pox scars, pits in the face, precancerous growths called keratoses, and tattoos. The recovery for dermabrasion is rather mild. The patient is allowed to return home after the procedure. The post-operative period is painless. Patients are given pain medication in case they need it. Otoplasty What is Otoplasty? Otoplasty, also referred to as ear plastic surgery is the surgical reshaping of the outer ear, to correct either deformities or make them look better. Otoplasty can be either a cosmetic or reconstructive procedure. With this procedure you can have a dramatic impact on your appearance, confidence, and overall quality of your life. Otoplasty in children is performed under general anesthesia; in adults, it may be done under either general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. Most otoplasties take about two or three hours to complete. Our patients will have to have bandages over the ears for several days after surgery.

12 Lip Cosmetics (Augmentation-Reduction) Lip Augmentation What is Lip Augmentation? & What is the recovery time? Most of us want more defined, fuller lips which are smooth, wrinkle-free and youthful! There are several different ways to make thin lips fuller. Depending on what material is used to create the modification, the effect can have durability between one month and one year. During the consultation process, our doctors will discuss which injectable filler will meet your aesthetic goals. Although the procedure uses very thin needles with pre-measured doses administered to the target areas, a topical anesthetic is used to ensure the patient is as comfortable as possible. Lip Reduction What is Lip Reduction? & What is the recovery time? Lip Reduction is the procedure to remove excess lip tissue to reduce the appearance of overly large lips. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. The procedure takes only about 30 to 45 minutes and takes about one week to heal. Our patients can go home within an hour of surgery. Dental Bleaching What is Dental Bleaching? Bleaching is performed to treat congenital or acquired discoloration of teeth. However; there shouldn t be any problem with these discolored teeth like hypersensitivity orgingival recession. Bleaching can be performed in two ways: Home bleaching: Impressions are taken of mouth of patient and a thin plastic tray is made. This tray is then filled with bleaching gel by patient at home periodically according to the instructions of the dentist. Office bleaching: After a protective layer is carefully painted on the gums and papilla, bleaching agent is applied on teeth and activated using halogen light. The main advantage of office bleaching is that desired level of whitening can usually be achieved in one sitting. Breast Augmentation Surgery What is Breast Augmentation Surgery? Breast Augmentation Surgery involves using breast implants or fat, referred to as fat transfer breast augmentation to increase the size of your breasts or restore breast volume that has been lost after weight reduction or pregnancy. Breast enlargement surgery is usually performed as an outpatient procedure. Physical activity is limited for the first several weeks and you can return to work and your normal activities within two to three weeks.

13 Breast Reductio (Mammaplasty) What is Breast Reduction? Breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammaplasty, is a procedure used to remove excess fat, tissue and skin from the breasts. If you have large breasts, you might choose to have breast reduction surgery to ease discomfort or to achieve a breast size proportionate to your body. Men with conditions such as gynecomastia (in which male breasts are abnormally enlarged) may also get breast reduction. When your procedure is complete, dressings or bandages will be applied to the incisions. You may also wear a support bra at home to minimize swelling and support the breasts as they heal. After surgery, you should avoid heavy lifting at all costs, as this can promote scarring. While you recover, you ll need to stop physical activity for some weeks. Breast Lift What is Breast Lift? A breast lift also known as mastopexy is a surgical procedure to change the shape of your breasts. During a breast lift, excess skin is removed and breast tissue is reshaped to restore firmness and raise the breasts to a higher position. After the surgery, your breasts will be covered and protected by gauze bandages and either an elastic bandage or a surgical bra. The bandages will be removed during the first week after surgery but you ll continue to wear a soft support bra for some weeks.

14 Gynecomastia What is Gynecomastia? Gynecomastia is a benign enlargement of the male breast resulting from a proliferation of the glandular component of the breast. Male Breast Reduction is the surgical removal of enlarged male breast tissues by the cutting out of excess tissue or by liposuction. Surgical options for enlarged breasts are to get liposuction to remove fat and scalpel surgery which takes minutes. It s an outpatient procedure, meaning no overnight stay, and it often dramatically improves appearance. The patient will be allowed to resume strenuous activities such as exercise within two to three weeks from the male breast reduction procedure. Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) What is Abdominoplasty? A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control. Sometimes these methods cannot achieve our goals. This surgery flattens the abdomen by removing extra fat, skin and tightening muscles in your abdominal wall. What is the Recovery Time? Recovery will take several weeks. Swelling begins to disappear in a matter of weeks and resolve completely in a few months. You will have to restrict exercise and other activity as advised by our doctor.

15 Body Contour Surgery What is Body Contour Surgery? Surgical body contouring following major weight loss removes excess sagging fat and skin while improving the shape of the underlying support tissue. The complete body contouring process includes liposuction, tummy tuck, arm lift, thigh lift, and other procedures as necessary on a case by case basis. The result is a more normal appearance with smoother contours. During your recovery from body contouring surgery, dressings or bandages will be applied to your incisions following the procedure. Small, thin tubes may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect. You may be instructed to avoid bending, straining or lifting for several days. Liposuction What is Liposuction? Liposuction is a surgical technique that improves the body s contour by removing excess fat from deposits located between the skin and muscle. Liposuction involves the use of a small stainless steel tube, called a cannula. The cannula is connected to a powerful suction pump and inserted into the fat through small incisions in the skin. Fat removal is accomplished as the suction cannula creates tiny tunnels through the fatty layers. After surgery, these tiny tunnels collapse and thus result in an improved body contour. Before the procedure begins, you will be given anesthesia. Depending on the extent of the liposuction, patients are generally able to return to work between two days and two weeks.

17 Arm Lifting What is Arm Lifting? Arm lift surgery or brachioplasty tightens loose or sagging skin around the arms. Massive weight loss as well as aging can cause this loose skin. This is a condition that cannot be corrected through exercise. Arm lift surgery may be right for you if the underside of your upper arms are sagging or appear loose and full due to excess skin and fat. This surgery takes two hours and is done under general anaesthesia. An arm lift procedure involves excess skin removal, mostly on the inside of the upper arm, making the skin tighter again. Our surgeon will discuss how long it will be before you can return to your normal level of activity and work. After surgery, you will receive detailed instructions about your postsurgical care and especially balance of rest and reduced activity will speed up your recovery. Vaginoplasty What is Vaginoplasty? Vaginoplasty is a type of surgery that can be used for vaginal reconstruction or creation of a vagina as part of male to female reassignment surgery. It is a procedure that aims to tighten up a vagina that s become slack or loose from vaginal childbirth or aging. The average length of vaginoplasty procedure is between 1-2 hours. An additional hour is spent in our recovery room under the supervision of a registered nurse. After surgery, the patient is usually able to walk comfortably within a few days, returns to work within two to five days and may return to sexual activities within 4-6 weeks. Scar Revision What is Scar Revision? Scar revision is the therapeutic alteration of scar tissue, usually to improve the appearance of the scar or attempt to eliminate it. Scarring can have a deleterious effect on appearance, self-image, and quality of life; scar tissue can be overly sensitive, stiff/inflexible, painful, or itchy. After any kind of scar revision there is an important period of recovery that must be followed very carefully. Most people can resume normal activities soon after surgery. If the full recovery period and therapies are maintained then the scar revision surgery s wounds will heal correctly. The initial healing phase of a surgical scar revision may include localized swelling, discoloration may take 1 to 2 weeks.

19 Thight Lifting What is Thight Lift? Thigh lift surgery reshapes the thighs by reducing excess skin, and in some cases fat, resulting in smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body. If fitness and weight loss efforts have not achieved your goals for a body that is firmer, more youthful looking and more proportionate to your overall body image, a surgical lift may be right for you. What is the recovery time? The recovery after a thigh lift depends on the type of thigh lift performed. As with most body procedures, a restful week off of work is necessary to allow for an appropriate recovery. Some patients may consider taking additional time off depending on their line of work. Small drains may be placed at the time of surgery, and these are usually removed at five to seven days following surgery. Most people can be back at work within several days and running within three weeks. Hair Transplantation What is Hair Transplantation? Hair transplantation is a procedure in which hair is moved from the back and/or sides of the scalp, where the hair is permanent (donor area), to areas that are thinning or bald on the front, top, or crown of the scalp (recipient area). Once transplanted, the hair will continue to grow for a person s lifetime. Where suitable, we perform walk-in walk-out procedures, which do not require general anesthetic, overnight stays or involve long recovery periods. Most people will have attained 65% of new hair growth after four to six months.
