4 How Does It Work? i-light PRO+ Face & Body uses intense pulses of light (IPL) to gently heat up and disable hair follicles beneath the skin. 5 Is the i-light PRO+ Face & Body suitable for you? The i-light PRO+ Face & Body is intended for use on light to medium skin colours. To determine if your skin tone is suitable to use with i-light PRO+ Face & Body, place skin in each intended treatment area next to the skin tone chart. If your skin tone matches panels 1-4, you can use the i-light PRO+ Face & Body IPL system. If your skin tone matches 5-6, DO NOT use the IPL system. The i-light PRO+ Face & Body is not intended for use on naturally dark skin, as it may result in burns, blisters and changes in skin colour. The i-light PRO+ Face & Body system is equipped with a built-in skin tone sensor that is designed to help prevent flashing on skin that is too dark or too tanned for treatment. Always test each different area you wish to treat with the skin tone chart and skin tone sensor before treating. The i-light PRO+ Face & Body is effective on black and brown hair but is not effective on blonde, red or grey hairs as they have very little melanin (dark pigmentation) compared to brown or black hair. Press the hand piece firmly against the skin, ensuring that the skin contact sensors are in full contact with the skin. After you hear a series of high pitched beeps press the flash button to treat the skin. When a flash is delivered, you will: See a bright flash of light. Hear a "POP" sound. Feel a mild sensation of warmth and tingling. Lift the hand piece off the skin and move it to the next area to be treated. OR keep the flash button depressed and slowly slide the hand piece on your skin to the next area to be treated. 5. Can I use i-light PRO+ Face & Body if I am pregnant or nursing? A. Check your skin type See skin colour chart Do not use on naturally dark skin as it may result in burns, blisters and changes in skin colour. Do not use on tanned skin or after recent sun exposure, as it may cause burns or skin injury. Areas not to treat Do not use above the cheekbones or around eyes. The facial cap is intended for Female facial hair below the cheekbone. It is not recommended for male facial use. Do not use on nipples, areola or genitals. Do not use if you have tattoos or permanent makeup in the area to be treated. Do not use on dark brown or black spots such as moles, birth marks, or freckles. Do not use on an area of recent surgery, deep peel, laser resurfacing, scars or skin that has been damaged with burns or scalds. Do not use if you use long-lasting deodorants. This can result in skin reactions. When not to use/when to avoid using i-light Pro+ Face & Body. Do not use if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Do not use if you were exposed to sun or artificial tanning within the past 4 weeks. Do not use on dry or fragile skin caused by the use of chemical peels, glycolic peels, Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs). Do not flash more than once on the same area. Do not use on the same area of your skin more than once a fortnight. Do not use for at least 14 days following microdermabrasion treatment. The skin needs to be in a normal state, free from irritation before treatment. Do not use on an area if you have recently been undertaking IPL/Laser hair removal treatments with respect to the same area. Please consult with your physician on the period of time you must wait between treating an area with IPL/Laser hair removal treatments and treating the same area with i-light Pro+ Face & Body. Do not use if you have a skin disease such as active skin cancer, if you have a history of skin cancer or any other localized cancer in the areas to be treated, or if you have pre-cancerous lesions or multiple atypical moles in the areas to be treated. Do not use if you have epilepsy with flashlight sensitivity. Do not use if you have a history of collagen disorder, including a history of keloid scar formation or a history of poor wound healing. Do not use if you have a history of vascular disorder, such as the presence of varicose veins or vascular ectasia in the areas to be treated. Do not use if your skin is sensitive to light and causes a rash or an allergic reaction. If you are taking photosensitizing agents or medications, check the package insert of the medicine. Never use the unit if it can cause photo-allergic reactions or photo-toxic reactions, or if you should avoid sun while taking a medication. Do not use if you have diabetes, lupus erythematodes, porphyria or congestive heart disease. Do not use if you have infections, eczema, burns, inflamed follicles, open lacerations, abrasions, surgeries, herpes simplex, wounds or lesions and haematomas in the areas to be treated.
