1 Diploma In Beauty and Wellness CURRICULUM/SYLLABUS Course Code:6656 This program is aimed at training candidates for the job of a Beautician where he/she can able to perform different beautician services, in the Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council Sector/Industry and aims at building the following key competencies amongst the learner 1. Understand about the different sectors of Beauty and Wellness Industries 5. Disposing Waste and able to use tools that are required for sterilization and disinfection 2. Carrying out and performing Beautician Services 6. Able to use different type of equipments that are used in Beauty Parlour 3. Able to perform and follow according to the safety protocols as per job 7. Understanding the importance of hygiene rules that are required requirements while providing services 4. Use a suitable skin warming technique relevant to the client s needs. Carry out any necessary extraction, when required. Apply mask treatments evenly and neatly, ensuring that the area to be treated is covered. Remove masks after the recommended time frame has elapsed Carry out cleaning to ensure skin is left clean, toned and suitably moisturized Provide specific after-process advice to the client. 5 Hrs Carry out the process using the tools and materials (hot wax, cold wax, strips etc). Check the client s understanding and expectation prior to commencement and clarify doubts, if any Apply the correct pre-wax products prior to waxing Conduct a test patch and skin sensitivity test ahead of the waxing treatment Maintain the client s modesty and privacy at all times Clean the treated area and use a suitable soothing product. Carry out threading services Ensure safe and quick hair removal methods are carried out to minimize discomfort to the client Ensure the hair removal methods are carried out at a comfortable distance from the client whilst maintaining the correct tension of the thread Provide clear instructions to the client on how and when to support their skin throughout the threading service Create a well-balanced, proportioned and defined eyebrow shape to suit the client s Page 4

5 17 Performing Treatment & Services related to Nails requirements, when required Check the client s wellbeing throughout the service and give the necessary reassurance Check with the client on satisfaction with the finished result Provide specific after process advice to the client 5 Hrs Check the client s understanding and expectation prior to commencement and clarify doubts, if any Clean and dry the client's feet/ hands as a part of preparation File the nails correctly, ensuring that the nail free edge is left smoothed and shaped to the required length Apply suitable cuticle products during the process to ensure no damage to the cuticle and nail plate Remove any excessive hard skin using a foot rasp, without discomfort to the client, if required Use appropriate massage mediums and techniques to meet the client s needs Apply suitable base coat/polish coats and top coat relevant to the client s needs, as required Clean the treated area and use a suitable soothing product. Check with the client on satisfaction with the finished result.
