6 Frequently Asked Questions Do I need an ablative laser treatment? Ablative laser treatment is used for the removal of pigmentation and the deep penetration of the dermis. The ablative laser treatment by Fraxel is known as Fraxel re:pair SST and is used to treat scars as well as remove pigmentation. It still provides the same cosmetic benefit in one intensive appointment rather than multiple treatment sessions. Is Fraxel ablative or non-ablative? There are different types of Fraxel laser. The non-ablative types include: Fraxel re:fine treatment for prevention and maintenance Fraxel 1550 treatment for mild to severe skin damage Fraxel 1927 treatment for mild to severe skin damage The 1550 and 1927 treatments together are referred to as the Fraxel Dual. All of the above treatments may require multiple applications depending on the results you want to achieve and the current condition of your skin. If you have serious concerns such as acne scarring, other scars, deep wrinkles and pigmentation then you may benefit from the ablative Fraxel laser the Fraxel re:pair SST. Does Fraxel have any down time? Dr Anh recommends resting for the following 24 hours after receiving laser treatment. You should expect redness for the following couple of days up to a week depending on how your skin responds. We recommend using an exfoliating product after this period of time to minimise any flaking.
