3 Introduction The Philips Norelco NT 9110 Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer is a precision trimming technology that guarantees no pulling, as well as effortless nose and ear hair trimming. The unique and patented Tube Shave technology integrates a miniature trimming head for increased visibility, maneuverability and precision: The ultra-sharp, closed cutting system avoids pulling for a more comfortable trimming experience. The guarded system protects against nicks and cuts. This User Manual is an introductory guide to get you started using the personal hair trimmer immediately. To use this manual you must have purchased the NT 9110 Nose and ear hair trimmer. This manual will cover all the common tasks for which the trimmer is used. Section 1 will introduce you to the trimmer and show you how to get it started. Section 2 shows you how to use the trimmer on unwanted personal hair. Section 3 shows you how to clean and maintain your trimmer for maximal product lifetime and utility. You can navigate this user manual by the Table of Contents at the start of the manual. 4 Section 1: Getting to Know Your Trimmer Like many new products, your Philips Norelco nose and ear hair trimmer may take a little getting used to. Before you can use your personal hair trimmer you will need to be aware of certain aspects of the device. This section will show you: what you need to know before using trimmer how to insert (replace) the battery Before Using the Trimmer This section contains a list of information that you need to know to use the Trimmer safely and hygienically. Use this trimmer for its intended use as described in this manual only. Check the trimmer for wear and damage. Do not use trimmer if the trimmer shows signs of wear or damage as injury may result. Ensure your skin is clean. If you have sensitive skin you may wish to apply talcum powder before and/or after use. Do not press too hard as this may cause skin irritation. Clean the trimmer immediately after each use (for instructions see Section 3: Maintaining and Cleaning Your Trimmer). Limit use of the trimmer to personal use only for hygienic reasons. Inserting or Replacing the Battery This procedure will ensure the battery is inserted safely into the trimmer. You will require 1 AA 1.5 volt alkaline battery this will power the trimmer for an operating time of up to 2 hours. The trimmer will not work if the battery is not inserted properly. Ensure hands and trimmer are both dry when inserting battery. 2

5 How to Insert the Battery: 1. Ensure trimmer is in the OFF (0) position. 2. Turn the battery compartment to the left so that the setting indicator points to the OPEN indicator ( ) (see Figure 1). Insert the battery into the compartment making sure the (+) and (-) markings on the battery match the (+) and (-) markings on the battery compartment (see Figure 3). 5. 6 Section 2: Trimming Unwanted Hair You can use your Philips Norelco trimmer to trim unwanted nose hair and ear hair. Test the trimmer on a small area of your arm or leg. If any sensitivity occurs, discontinue using immediately. Do not use the trimmer on sensitive or irritated skin. Trimming Nose Hair Unwanted nose hair is trimmed by inserting the tip of the trimmer into the nostril and slowly moving the trimmer in and out of the nostril. When trimming nose hair it is important to never insert the tip more than ¼ into the nostril. How to Trim Nose Hair: 1. Ensure nasal passages are clean before trimming. 2. Remove the protective cap by pulling it off of the trimmer (see Figure 5). Figure 5: pulling off protective cap 3. Turn the trimmer on by turning the battery compartment to the right until the setting indicator points to the ON (I) indicator (see Figure 6). 4. Carefully insert the trimmer tip into one nostril. Figure 6: turning the indicator to ON When trimming nose hair it is important to never insert the tip more than ¼ into the nostril. 4

5. Slowly move the trimmer tip in and out of the nostril to remove unwanted hair (see Figure 7). 6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for the other nostril. Figure 7: moving trimmer tip in and out 7.

Trimming Ear Hair Unwanted ear hair is trimmed by inserting the tip of the trimmer to the edge of the outer ear and slowly moving the trimmer around the edges of the outer ear.

Trimming Ear Hair Unwanted ear hair is trimmed by inserting the tip of the trimmer to the edge of the outer ear and slowly moving the trimmer around the edges of the outer ear. When trimming ear hair it is important to never insert the tip more than ¼ into the ear. How to Trim Ear Hair 1. Ensure outer area of ear is clean and free of wax. 2. 8 4. Pull ear flat to head with one hand and hold trimmer with the other hand. 5. Carefully bring the trimmer tip to the outer ear. When trimming ear hair it is important to never insert the tip more than ¼ into the ear. 6. Move trimmer around edges of ear to remove unwanted hairs extending beyond the outer ear (see Figure 10). Section 3: Maintaining and Cleaning Your Trimmer This section will give you instructions for cleaning and maintaining your trimmer for maximal hygiene, product lifetime and utility.

It is important to clean the trimmer after every time you use it. Maintaining in General The trimmer head cannot be opened and detached from the appliance. Always keep the protective cap on when not in use. Unlike hair clippers, the trimmer does not need any lubrication (oil). If trimmer will not be used on a regular basis, remove the battery to prevent possible damage due to chemical leakage (see Section 1: Getting to Know Your Trimmer, Inserting or Replacing Battery). Cleaning in General It is important to keep your trimmer in clean and hygienic condition at all times. Do not use compressed air, abrasive cleaning detergents, scouring pads or cloths, or chemicals such as ammonia or acetone to clean the appliance. Clean the trimmer after every time you use it. How to Clean After Each Use 1. Turn the trimmer OFF (see Figure 4 in Section 1: Getting to Know Your Trimmer). 2. Clean the trimmer with the supplied brush. 10 4. Rinse the trimmer under warm water to remove any remaining hair/residue from the trimmer (see Figure Figure 12). 5. Turn trimmer OFF and allow it to air-dry completely. The battery could be empty, replace the battery with a new one. If your nose trimmer still does not work, please take it to your local Philips dealer or Consumer Care Center. 10

13 QUESTION: The handle of my trimmer became warm when I turned it on. How can I solve this problem? ANSWER: The handle probably became warm because the trimming element is so dirty that it got stuck. Soak the cutting element of the nose trimmer in a bowl of warm water with a little soap for about 2 minutes. 11
