Since machine prices vary from $250 to $4300, it s important that micropigmentation artists try different models prior to choosing equipment. With us you have the option to test hand tools and 3 4 machines. NO CONFLICT OF INTEREST The Centre for Permanent Makeup has no conflict of interest related to equipment or pigments. We offer information on a variety of pigments and the opportunity for students to experience a number of different machines. Expensive equipment cannot compensate for skill and skill comes with practice. ABOUT THE OWNER At the Centre for Permanent Makeup, the owner, Maureen Williams, is certified for Beginner & Advanced (Scar & Areola) Micropigmentation, Feathering, Tattoo Removal and Dry Needling (brown spot, wrinkle removal). In 2009, she trained in Ontario on the use of the nouveau contour digital machine. Maureen has also received eye shadow & para-medical micropigmentation training in Florida. After obtaining certification in Blood Borne Pathogens at the American Emergency University two years in a row, Maureen successfully completed the Florida Department of Health Blood Borne Pathogens & Contagious Diseases training in 2012 and again in 2013.

8 Maureen is 1 of only 5 Canadian Members of the American Academy of Micropigmentation, the sole North American trade association that tests permanent makeup artists knowledge prior to accepting them as members. She has also recently joined the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals. Hence, the need for organizations to protect the public safety became evident. Two notable micropigmentation associations in the U.S.A. are the: American Academy of Micropigmentation and the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals. 9 American Academy of Micropigmentation (AAM) The American Academy of Micropigmentation s (AAM) mission is to ensure a high quality of client care and to satisfy the public and the medical profession that its members have completed an accredited course of education in micropigmentation and undergone evaluation including an examination. This non-profit organization was founded in 1992 by Charles Zwerling, MD. AAM is a member of the National Association for Competency Assurance. A potential member does not have to be trained by micropigmentation trainers certified by SPCP or to be in the industry a certain length of time. Anyone may join who agrees to the SPCP Code of Ethics. The SPCP offers a voluntary designation of Certified Permanent Cosmetic Professional (CPCP) to members who pass the competency examination. RECOMMENDED FEE STRUCTURE To ensure that micropigmentation practitioners receive adequate compensation for their services, taking into consideration the risks involved and after a review of charges across Canada, we recommend the following fee structure: Brows $600 - $800 Eye Liner $600 - $750 -Upper Eye Liner $350 - $450 -Lower Eye Liner $300 Lip Liner $600 Lips $800 The quoted fees include 1 touch-up. A refresh, recommended every year or two, can be charged at half the price of the original procedure or $100 per hour depending on the market. In B.C. fees are $ for brows, $800 for eyeliner, $1000 for lips. In Ontario the average is $425 - $500 for eyebrows, $425 for eye & lip liner and $600 for full lip shading. Fredericton, New Brunswick charges are $450+ for eyebrows, $700 for eye liner, $600+ for lip liner and $800+ for full lip shading. ETHICAL BEHAVIOUR Micropigmentation artists need to present themselves in a positive light. By practicing integrity in their relationships, clients will learn to trust their opinion. Find a business name that is uniquely your own. Avoid making negative remarks about your competition. Avoid misrepresenting yourself. 8 accessed Aug 2013
