3 SYNTHETIC HANS & FRITZ CONTEMPORARY is proud to present at CODE 3 in Copenhagen the project SYNTHETIC, by the San danish/filipino Gil 17 artist LILIBETH CUENCA RASMUSSEN. The average citizen lives in a compromised space. Everyday life is a race. Every breath and movement is calculated into efficiency. The art world is no stranger to this situation. On average, Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen spends merely fifty percent of her time at home. The remaining time is spent traveling in relation to her work. Many in the art world live this way, pursuing an almost nomadic life. Referring to this contemporary lifestyle, the artist draws upon her work involving the body in its presence and in its absence through representation or as a trace. Through objects, organic material, and performances, SYNTHETIC reflects on our transition from life to death. Organic materials accompany rituals in the representation and re-performance of making art and the artists in the studio. The exhibit uses these facets in representing the body, its narrative and life through performative gestures. - -

The united bodies measure the earth through transformations of geometric shapes. Thereafter with their feet seeding the earth with caolin. - -

15 BEING HUMAN BEING BEING HUMAN BEING (2016) is not really an exhibition, nor a performance. It s something in between... An open studio programme of live art in Barcelona which we witness the artistic research and the formation of new artworks about the the concept of the original human and the seven days of creation. Examin-ing the way we search for, see and display the origin of our existence and how this influences the way we understand ourselves today. A reflection on the state of coming from different cultures and belonging in several places. Body prints of earth made by Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen in collaboration with visitors and spe-cially invited guests: Ana Álvarez-Errecalde, Erich Weiss, Denys Blacker, Camila Cañeque and members of the Philippine community. Paintings, banners, objects and sculptural interpretations are the outcomes of the performance series exhibited in BEING HUMAN BEING - -

16 AFGHAN HOUND Afghan Hound (2011) is a performance that includes four imitations of voices from Afghanistan. These voices show the complexities of gender in cultures in which men and women live segregat-ed and are imposed standards from masculinity. When sexuality is repressed new gender constructions emerge driven by the traditions of a society and a certain culture, they appear and transform in Afghan Hound. The four stories that develop in the performance are related between them through a combination of music, song and choreogra-phy. The piece is performed with a costume made of hair, which is inspired by Afghan Hound dog racing. The transformation of genres and characters through the use of this costume, symbolize different sexualities and different identities.
