2 Dear Cattle Producers, Welcome to the annual North Carolina beef cattle field day held at the Upper Piedmont Research Station. The field day this year will cover topics that we are all facing as beef producers in the southeast. As an added benefit to the field day we are offering heifers and cows from the research station system for sale. The registered Black Angus heifers from Upper Piedmont Research Station were selected from the top of last years calving season. The top 20 heifers were grouped and the NCSU judging team selected 10 from the group. The Simmental, Angus cross heifers from Butner Beef Cattle Field Lab were selected in the same manner and represent the excellent crossbreeding program that has occurred there for many years. The Senepol Cross heifers are from the short hair research project being conducted at the Cherry Research Farm. There are two bred cows being offered from the Embryo transfer program at Mountain Research Station and the Butner Beef Cattle Field Lab. At the beginning of the sale a special offering will be made as a fundraiser for the Upper Piedmont Research Station Endowment. We are offering the highest bidder the opportunity to flush one cow from the Upper Piedmont Research Stations historic herd of Angus Cattle. The buyer will be responsible for paying for and scheduling the flush and providing the semen. The station personnel will handle the preparation and delivery of the frozen embryos. This offering will also be handled as a donation to the NCSU Ag Foundation..
