1 drom s fragrance wins 2006 FiFi Award For the first time in the company s history, one of drom s fragrances won the biggest international award in the fragrance industry. The 2006 FiFi Awards confirm the creative power of drom. Baierbrunn, July 07, 2006 The FiFi Award is considered the Oscar of the fragrance industry, the highest award that the fine fragrance business has to offer. Every year, the members of the Fragrance Foundation choose winners in various categories. This year drom scored twice: Tomorrow for men, created by drom perfumer Barbara Zoebelein for AVON Products, Inc., won the prestigious awards for Private Label/Direct Sell and Best Packaging. Zoebelein had long wanted to create a fragrance with a basic chord of pure wood. Our research on agarwood, an Arabic wood, was a great inspiration to me. The fragrance aura around the tree gave me the idea for a warm, woody men s fragrance, said Zoebelein. For contrast, we added a harmonious mixture of licorice, star anise and black cocoa the key note is soft, powdery and musky, but not oriental. AVON Products was excited about our idea from the start, and we stayed with it over the course of development. As a result, a finely-tuned convergence of wood and licorice gave rise to Tomorrow for men. The new fragrance has both character and commercial viability, precisely meeting the needs of AVON Products, Inc. Tomorrow for men was refined between New York and Baierbrunn, Germany in many small steps over the course of a few months, until finally the entire team was convinced in every respect.

2 The international presence of drom s perfumers made it possible for Barbara Zoebelein who for years had worked in Hong Kong, Paris and New York to follow the entire development process from her Baierbrunn location. Zoebelein said, Of course, I was in New York again and again. But we did save a lot of time, as our fine fragrance studio in New York was able to present new recipes to the client immediately and discuss them with the team. drom s international communications sped the project along, and this year s FiFi Award winner was created in under four months. On April 3, the giants of the fragrance industry celebrated the 34 th FiFi Awards ceremony with a number of stars in attendance. Geena Davis, winner of the Academy Award and Golden Globe, gave the award ceremony a particularly glamorous cachet, as did celebrity presenters such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Vivica A. In 2006, drom s fragrance creation today TOMORROW always for Men won a FIFI Award for AVON Products, Inc. This award, given by the Fragrance Foundation in New York City, is considered to be the most prestigious honor for extraordinary fine fragrances. Under drom s guidance, the staff explores engaging new compositions in scent, and the latest distillation and production processes. Around the world, production and logistics are constantly being optimized. It was drom who brought fragrance to the film theater and created New York s first fine fragrance studio. 5 FiFi Background Each year, The Fragrance Foundation celebrates the "FiFi," the "Oscars" of the fragrance world. Annette Green, President Emeritus of The Fragrance Foundation, conceived the idea of honoring the fragrance industry's creative achievements. She could never have known that The Fragrance Foundation Recognition Awards would become symbols of excellence around the world. The first Awards Ceremony, attended by only 250 industry members, was held in the Grand Ballroom of The Plaza in New York. There were only seven awards and Chanel No 19 won for "Most Successful Introduction of a Fragrance." In the intervening years, there have been many changes in categories and nominating procedures, as the Foundation has responded to the growing diversification and expansion of the industry. For the first four years, the awards themselves were exquisite framed collages created by an artist, Bill Goldberg. Each incorporate the name of the winning fragrance and the company. In 1975, Pierre Dinand was commissioned by The Fragrance Foundation to design a crystal award. His creation - a crystal sculpture featuring two 12" abstract columns embracing a droplet - was produced in France by Pochet and became an internationally acclaimed symbol. In 1989, the award was nicknamed "FiFi" by John Ledes, publisher of Beauty Fashion and Cosmetic World. The name has since been registered by The Fragrance Foundation with The United States Patent and Trademark Office. The Foundation also awards the "FiFi" to outstanding fragrances, 15 or more years old, which have been chosen by the industry to have the distinction of being inducted into The "FiFi" Fragrance Hall of Fame. The award has become an icon for the global fragrance industry. In 1993, the first annual European "FiFi" Awards for the most successful men's and women's fragrances of the year were presented in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
