1 UCONN STAMFORD ART GALLERY 10th ANNUAL JURIED FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW Exhibition Guidelines, Information, & Entry Form The University of Connecticut, Stamford Campus is pleased to announce its 10th Annual Juried Fine Art Photography Show, to be held in the Art Gallery from December 11, 2017 to January 25, Amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit up to three (3) works. The Art Gallery is a large, inviting space located off the Main Concourse, which serves as the heart of the UConn campus in downtown Stamford, with easy access to parking and public transportation. Visitors enter the Gallery from the Broad Street Concourse or from a second entrance that is visible from Washington Boulevard and lit by a dramatic three-story light spine. The Gallery is approximately 25 feet wide by 70 feet long. Prize Ribbons will be awarded for First, Second and Honorable Mention Places in each of the 5 photographic categories; No fees will be charged for entries and no prize monies will be awarded; While exhibited in the gallery no photographs will be allowed for sale. The University will continue to host a free and open to the public Artist s Opening Reception. Details and guidelines are below. Important Dates The installation of all art works must be personally delivered, along with the completed entry form between the hours of 11 a.m. 2 p.m. on either Friday or Saturday December 8 and 9, The drop-off site of art works will be in the Art Gallery. Alternative delivery arrangements may be made, no later than Friday, December 1, at the discretion and convenience of the Gallery. Art pieces must remain on display for the entire show. The Artist s Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, December 16 from 2-4 PM. De-installation: the show ends on Thursday, January 25, 2018 and photographers must remove their works between the hours of 11 a.m. 2 p.m., on either Friday or Saturday, January 26 or 27, 2018, or by special arrangement during the following week. 2 Submissions: Fine art photos in either Black & White or Color may be submitted in the following categories: Animals Artistic, Creative & Other Expressions Landscapes and City Scenes People and Portraits Pictures That Tell A Story Each photographer will be limited to submitting up to three (3) pictures in total. The Gallery reserves the right to final determination of the category of an individual work, or to collapse categories if insufficient entries are received. In such cases, the Gallery or juror s final decision of category designation stands. If the Gallery receives more entries than it can accommodate, jurors will screen entries prior to the hanging of the show. (To date, none of our photography shows have required pre-jury.) In the case that some works are not accepted, notification will occur by the reception date. Award Ribbons: In each category, ribbons will be awarded for First, Second and Honorable Mention Places and a single show ribbon for People s choice. The decision of the jurors is final. Awards winners will be announced at the Artist s Opening Reception on Saturday, December 16, There will be no monetary awards. Entry Fees: Entry is Free - No fees will be charged for entries. Submissions will be limited up to three (3) works. Entry into this show shall be taken as an agreement to all UConn Stamford Gallery policies and to the conditions outlined in this prospectus. While on display any & all submitted works may be used by the Gallery for educational and promotional purposes. Preparation of Work: This is a blind, juried show; accordingly, the entrant s name or other identifiers should not be visible on the front of the work. No work may exceed 78 H x 32 W or 100 lbs. All entries must have a label on back (see entry form) and be suitably framed, e.g., ready for hanging, with screw, eyes and wire. Frames with hook(s) and no wire are unacceptable. Any works submitted unframed, improperly framed, without wire, or otherwise unable to be secured are subject to disqualification. Entries will be handled by staff with care and will be insured by the University for the exhibit dates. Artist s Opening Reception: A free reception open to the public with light refreshments, will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2-4 pm. Entrants, their friends, and family members are invited to attend. With the exception of the People s Choice Award, ribbon awards will be announced at the reception. Ballots for People s Choice award are available for approximately the first 3 weeks of the show and the award will be announced subsequently.

3 Sale of Art Prohibition: Entries will not be offered for sale during this exhibit. This is a for display only show. Liability, Insurance, and Retrieval of Works: The University of Connecticut at Stamford Art Gallery will insure all accepted work. Signature on the entry form constitutes an agreement with all Gallery policies and is required for insurance purposes. Unless special arrangements are made, any works not retrieved by the final retrieval date of January 27 will no longer be insured by the University and will be stored. Artists agree to pay a $25.00 administrative charge for works that require storage. Any works not retrieved after 30 days will be considered abandoned and will be considered property of the University. UConn Gallery Hours of Operation: During the regular Academic year the gallery is open Monday through Thursday 9 am to 7 pm, Friday to 5 pm and Saturday to 1 p.m. The Gallery is closed on Sundays and Christmas & New Year s weekend. Hours are limited during the holiday weeks, so please call ahead ( ).
