STEVE LAMBERT Everything You Want, Right Now 2011/ Edition of 10 Mixed Media 30 x 42 x 6 inches For Steve, art is a bridge that connects uncommon, idealistic, or even radical ideas with everyday life. Steve carefully crafts various conditions where he can discuss these ideas with people and have a mutually meaningful exchange. Do It Mixed Media 6 x 10 x 5 inches Edition of Steve Lambert (b.1976 Los Angeles) is cofounder and director of the Center for Artistic Activism and recently accepted a faculty appointment to SUNY Purchase. His work has been exhibited internationally and is in the permanent collections of the Sheldon Museum, the Progressive Insurance Company collection and the US Library of Congress, among others. 3 aqua art miami WILLIAM POWHIDA Where Does Power Come From? Edition of 20 Archival Pigment Print 22 x 30 inches A Subjective Classification of Things Graphite, watercolor and acrylic on Panel 60 x 40 inches William Powhida (b. 1976, New York) is an artist and critic living and working in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. For several years Powhida worked as an art critic for the Brooklyn Rail while developing his own artistic practice. Powhida s work, reflecting his critical background, displays a concentrated fascination with the politics of access and the powers that control the assignment of value in the artworld. All roles are fair game, from nouveau-hot artists and the market-setting collectors that buy them, to the branded dealers that sell the work and the critics paid to provide intellectual justification for the pricepoints. Powhida was recently acquired by the Orange County Museum of Art.

ANDREW LEWICKI Louis Vuitton Waffle Maker, 2012, Edition of 3 Teflon coated aluminum, enamel on aluminum sheet, generic waffle maker parts 14 x 11.5 x 13.5 inches Less Paul, 2012 Baltic birch plywood, CDX plywood, hardboard, MDF, polystyrene, ABS, steel, generic guitar parts 38 x 16 x 12 inches Through an exploration of the language of material, meaning of form, and viewer reception, Andrew investigates the overlapping space between social symbolism, functional intent, and reckless imagination. Using sculpture, site specific installation, and photography he explores ideas on longing and desire, notions of inferiority in a materialistic society, and the transformative power of liberation through the manipulation of material and form. Andrew Lewicki (b.1983, Redwood City, CA) took his BFA from the Otis College of Art and Design in He was the recipient of the 2011 California Community Foundation Grant for emerging artists. Lewicki s work has been exhibited at the Architecture and Design Museum, Los Angeles, the Torrance Art Museum, and the Luckman Gallery at Cal State LA. He has been covered in Frieze Magazine. His parents immigrated from Mexico and established themselves in the Inland Empire region east of Los Angeles. In 2009, Ramiro moved to West Hollywood and took a job as a live-in nanny for an affluent family. While on duty, he observed the many Latino workers who would arrive daily to assist in the household maintenance. Growing up as a member of a working class Hispanic family, Ramiro sympathized with their work and began a series of observational drawings that would later form the body of work he titled Happy Hills. This body of work, the artist explains, is a documentation of the predominantly Hispanic workforce who work tirelessly behind the scenes to maintain the beautiful imagery of these affluent areas. Through the help of social media, Gomez s paintings and street installations in Beverly Hills began to garner attention. The immigrant experience is the exclusive focus of Ramiro and he continues to expand his work in a public manner. His practice honors the contributions of the many individuals who work diligently on a daily basis to provide a better life for themselves and their families.

In this process mass produced figurines become individual and surreal. Objects are selected by their character, cleaned, masked, dipped or poured several times with synthetic rubber. Zippers are tucked in with dental tools and sealed with rubber. Some zippers are painted gold. These ideas are in conjunction with Duchamp s ready-mades, Rauschenberg s erased de Kooning, Paul McCarthy and Jeff Koons.

aqua art miami MICHELLE ANDRADE 1972 Vodka Forever I m Feeling Fancy See You on the Other Side, I Feel Like A Champion We Were Young Once Drinks Well With Others You re a Bad Idea Michelle s work is a journalistic exploration into the everyday sprawl of the mundane. Brightly colored, whimsical drawings draw the viewer in, but a closer look reveals her personal anxieties, struggles, and insecurities. The fragmented phrases that run through her drawings come from my own thoughts as well as conversations and interactions with others. Taken out of context, these dark and humorous thoughts and phrases, juxtaposed with a playful aesthetic become accessible. That which would traditionally be deemed personal and uncomfortable allows the viewer to locate themselves in the narratives woven into her diaristic journey. Michelle Andrade was born in Encino, CA. She received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2005 and an MFA from Otis College of Art and Design in Michelle has exhibited in Chicago, Houston, Miami, and throughout Southern California. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles.

aqua art miami SANDOW BIRK AND ELYSE PIGNOLET A Liberal Map of the World Six-color lithograph 34 x 46 inches Edition of A Conservative Map of the World Six-color lithograph 34 x 46 inches Edition of L.A. artists Sandow Birk and Elyse Pignolet have collaborated in the creation of two world maps that manage to skewer both right wing and left wing political views simultaneously. As artists in residence at the Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the fall of 2011, the artists who often collaborate on various projects from huge public murals to small, intimate drawings expanded on they similar maps created in The two resulting large-scale lithographic prints mimic the style, colors, and format of old elementary school pulldown maps, complete with decorative borders embellished with prominent places and buildings relevant to each world view: The United Nations and National Public Radio, for example in the Liberal map, whose counterparts on the Conservative map are The Pentagon, and Fox News. Interestingly the only two institutions to appear on both maps are the Supreme Court and National Parks, but imagined towards different ends. As Art In Print magazine writes, Los Angeles artists Sandow Birk and Elyse Pignolet have cleverly given us two maps for one world; together they illustrate how it is that we can use the same words and yet be talking about completely different things.

NERY GABRIEL LEMUS Hypocrite s Prayer Cotton tapestry 38 x 52 inches Happy Fathers Day, Mom! Cotton tapestry 15 1/4 x 17 1/2 inches, framed Nery s work explores issues around race and family- not in the narrow sense, but in a broader sense that is ultimately about society s role (or even responsibility) to advance human dignity. His art frequently attempts to identify parallels within cultures and question the division s people have. Nery is interested in creating art that not only functions within the context of the white box but involves society or functions in a public context- he believes this to be essential to an artist working with social issues. He is a recipient of a COLA Fellowship Grant from the Department of Cultural Affairs, Los Angeles, and the Rema Hort Mann Foundation Fellowship Award and was a featured artist in Made in L.A. 2012, organized by the Hammer in collaboration with LA><ART,
