2 Inspecting the Body Art Establishment Inspectors should: Properly identify themselves Ask questions Look at all areas of establishment Observe set up, take down, and part of procedure

4 Procedure Area All body art procedures areas shall be completely separated by solid partitions or by walls extending from floor to ceiling from any room used for something other than body art procedures within a registered body art facility.

7 At the Hand Wash Sink
8 Proper Hand Hygiene
9 Don a fresh pair of gloves
10 A compromised glove requires a glove change
11 Personal Protective Equipment
12 Cover all client surfaces with appropriate protective disposables All surfaces for the client shall be nonporous or properly prepared with appropriate disposable protective equipment. All pillows must be covered with a barrier.
13 Proper Set Up for Procedure
14 Inspect your packages carefully before use!
15 Use a disposable receptacle for all commercially manufactured ink used during the procedure
16 Tattoo machine must have removable parts to prevent backflow into enclosed parts of the motor
17 Use clip cord covers and machine bags
18 Peel apart packages can be used as sterile surface to work from
19 Pre-sterilized measuring calipers
20 Jewelry must be sterilized and of a biocompatible material
21 Use only single use disposable razors for any shaving of the area and dispose of in the sharps container after use.
22 Sterilized pre-packs
23 Prep your surface properly
24 Mark with disposable single use marking pens
25 Discard Marking Pens After Use
26 Discard transfer paper after use
27 All needles must be purchased pre sterilized or sterilized in house
28 Keep records of all pre sterilized items purchased
29 No food, drink or anything other than the tools and items used for the procedure should be in your procedure area!
30 Cover your procedure area if you leave the area for any reason during a procedure
31 Temporarily place items to be processed into a basin.
32 Your dirty basin with enzymatic cleaner should have a tight snap closing lid.
33 Discard all sharps into sharps container
34 Biomedical Waste
35 Gather all disposables
36 Bundle your disposables into a glove if you want to keep your trash bin tidy
37 Carefully carry your basin to the decontamination and sterilization area
38 Clean all instruments that do not come into contact
39 Once your workstation is clear, disinfect with proper disinfectant
40 Decontaminate all surfaces after use
41 Provide your customer with aftercare materials
42 Provide aftercare advice to your client
43 The decontamination and sterilization area is restricted to BBP trained personnel.
44 Apply appropriate personal protective equipment upon entering the decontamination and sterilization area
45 Remove all PPE when exiting the decontamination and sterilization area
46 Items to be processed
47 Use a brush small enough to clean inside any hollow items or tools
48 Needle tubes in ultrasonic cleaner
49 Your ultrasonic cleaning cycle time may vary with load size and age of equipment
50 If your ultrasonic is not equipped with a drain carefully drain it manually
51 Cleaned items to dry before packaging them to be sterilized
52 Items in peel packs for sterilization If your packages do not have an indicator on them enclose one with your item
53 Properly packed chamber autoclave
