1 The QUILL - Bald Eagle Art League s Monthly Newsletter Michelangelo: Born on March 6, 1475, in Caprese, Italy, Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni was a Renaissance sculptor, painter, draftsman, architect, and poet. Michelangelo was thought of as the greatest living artist in his lifetime, and is considered to be one of the greatest artists of all time. Michelangelo s final work in marble, the Rondanini Pietà, was left unfinished. He died in Rome on February 18, 1564 at the age of 88. This Quill is laid out a bit different. I wanted to feature some brochures important to the members.

By-the-way, this will be our last meeting until September. What s been happening? Wen Redmond was our artist guest in April: Creating Digital Fiber Art. Unbelievable! What an unusually talented artist. Unusual in the fact that the art is so unique. Anyone interested in working digitally with fabric, shouldn t have missed this artist. Janet Sherman was our March Grille Gallery. She not only had lovely art but while viewing her art. And the attended. artist at the Genetti tasty treats to eat show was well I have posted the brochures I have received but I didn t mention the Members Only Show at the Genetti for August & September, because it was in last month s Quill. Basically the theme is WATER, anything that has to do with WATER. Do not make it too big. No more than 30 on the biggest side. I am going to add one page of WATER ideas in this Quill. Last year when I named the Glimpse of Williamsport Show, I know a lot of people were perplexed and wanted me to give them ideas. Well, I wouldn t because that is part of the creative process. So, I thought, I would show you some example of WATER ideas. Can t hurt and maybe we ll have more people enter.

Since this event is held outdoors, be sure to bring everything you need to display and protect your work in the event of rain or wind. 8 Eleventh Annual Eve Archer Award This annual event continues through the volunteering efforts of many artists and their families. One of the most important figures in the Ways Garden Art & Grafts Show is Eve Archer, whose efforts over the years are now celebrated by the Eve Archer Award. This prize is a public vote for the best in show. Please take a moment and vote for your favorite piece of art. Drop ballots at each exit to the park. Eve s vision of making this show open to all artists is a vision that we still share and value today. The Bald Eagle Art League continues to honor Eve and her past leadership by keeping this show an annual event and offering this award. Please invite family and friends to enjoy a wonderful day at the show, and remember to take a break and visit the Strawberry Festival across the street at Trinity Episcopal Church. Please print.
