2 ESTABLISHED 1923 Established in 1923, Grenfell began as a wonder-fabric developed specifically to meet the outerwear needs of explorer and missionary doctor, Sir Wilfred Grenfell, who lent his name to the brand. Over the following decades as Grenfell developed a wider range of outerwear in many different styles and fabrics Grenfell was worn by British Royalty, legends of motorsports, mountaineers, adventurers, outdoorsmen and style icons including Cary Grant and Gregory Peck. Grenfell Clothing has been worn by some of the fastest men on the planet. Sir Stirling Moss drove for years in Grenfell Cloth and we are proud to be associated with Sir Malcolm and Donald Campbell MBE, who wore Grenfell racing suits whilst setting records on both land and water. The spirit of this association is captured in the Grenfell x Bluebird collection. Every piece of Grenfell clothing is produced in the UK at our own London factory.

8 DESIGNER S DIRECTION The Grenfell AW17 Collection takes inspiration from both our archive, and traditional garments worn by the Inuit people of Newfoundland, Canada. It is there that one of our founders Dr Wilfred Grenfell worked extensively to improve the lives of locals, combining the best of local and Western knowledge, traditional and modern approaches. To meet the needs of our luxury consumers, the collection updates many classic mens outerwear pieces, such as the Duffle coat re-imagined in long pile luxury alpaca and mohair, with bands of warm colours reminiscent of garments worn by the Inuits. Great attention has been given to sourcing the most luxurious and appropriate cloths.

9 Innovative designs also feature in the Bluebird section of the range, including in the re-make of our Racing suit first seen in the 1920 s. Sheepskin is used in many pieces for removable collars, combination pieces such as the Grizzly biker jacket or the sheepskin sleeved Oxford college jacket. Detail is there at every level with many pieces featuring merino wool lining for extra comfort, with luxury horn buttons and toggles used throughout. Colours are sophisticated and subtle, in perfect shades of camel, aubergine, moss green, navy and flannel greys.
