26 HOW TO MEASURE SIZING Regardless of the brand, all garments are hand made or sewn by hand using machinery that physically requires a human touch. There are machines used to fuse collars, place pockets in exactly the same place each time or do button holing but the 2.5cm measure 2.5 cm down from where sleeve attaches to the body actual construction or putting together of the shirts is done by hand. These shirts have a tolerance of +/- 1cm, it s because of the human content in the manufacturing and whilst Aussie Pacific make to exacting standards, sometimes a shirt may have a slight size change. You will need to get in touch with the person who gave you this Catalogue, they will be experienced in manufacturing in this off-shore area. Aussie Pacific realise that you may want something that is different to an off the shelf garment, you may want to reverse the colour combinations, add a colour to a panel or piping or have the item arrive already embroidered/printed and packaged. Why choose Aussie Pacific over others? Aussie Pacific garments are made in a state of the art factory in Shanghai-China, that also makes for many of the global labels that you may already have in your wardrobe. The fabric is anti-bacterial treated to ensure your garment remains fresh and dry under all conditions. Performance Fabrics decrease exertion by increasing hydration and by maintaining body temperature. The yarn used for our performance fabrics garments is. This is not a fabric but an anti-bacterial treated yarn to make sure you stay fresh and dry. It can be knitted into various forms such as mini-waffle and pique knit, mini-waffle is used extensively in this product range. The unique fibre construction makes it lightweight and highly breathable. The micro-construction causes yarn to bulk up when exposed to moisture and dry quickly when exposed to air. Using a capillary action, moisture is wicked away from the skin to the outer surface spreading moisture from fibre to fibre. was created using a unique 5 channel polyester fibre that once woven together in cross sections allows air to flow through the fabric. This yarn has the ability to move moisture and speed up evaporation which is crucial to keeping your body dry and comfortable. It is important as the body works up a sweat, the moisture is transported away from the skin to the surface of the garment where it can evaporate quickly with the movement of air around and across your body. Due to the composition of the fabric, our garments retain their colour and their shape. Despite the advancements in fibre and fabric design, these garments are easily washable. These performance fabric garments can stand up to regular washing for years without losing their anti-bacterial attributes, shape, colour or durability. 40 In China, Labour Contract Laws (LCL) have taken effect and are designed to; protect employees; to build long term harmonious working relationships; maintain lawful rights of both employees and employers. This includes hiring, working hours, leave & rest, occupational safety and hygiene, training, discipline, compensation and everything concerning employee rights and interests. The LCL s also prohibit employers from hiring persons under the legal age to hold employment and Aussie Pacific condemns the use of underage workers and has never produced garments made by children under the legal working age. As well and for the record, the Aussie Pacific factory does not employ stand over tactics and staff can come and go as they see fit. Regularly visits to the factory are undertaken to ensure procedures and human rights are not violated. In this factory, the workers are paid on piece work which means they are paid on their productivity on the amount of pieces they can process. 40

41 SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Aussie Pacific takes and considers the issue of Social Responsibility very seriously as you would expect from a brand that is Australian owned and operated. The Aussie Pacific factory is a high quality Chinese apparel manufacturer who also produces for well known globally recognised brands in both the sports and fashion markets. Many of the staff actually choose longer hours to get ahead. These people usually travel long distances from their home provinces for employment so for factories to retain their staff can be a problem so it s in the best interests of the factory owner to ensure they have contented happy staff. The factory provides three cooked meals a day in the company cafeteria and house the workers in air conditioned dormitories. Recreation and leisure activities are vigorously encouraged. Statistics show that one in three staff do not return to their workplace after the Chinese New Year Holiday so ensuring there is a happy workplace, is paramount. All Aussie Pacific garments are made in their factory in China which is ISO Certified. But what is ISO certified? It s the International Standards Organisation. Essentially, the ISO 9000 family of standards represents an international consensus on good quality management practices. ISO 9001:2000 is the standard that provides a set of standardised requirements for a quality management system, regardless of what the organisation does, it s size or whether it s in the public or private sector. It is the only standard in the ISO family against which organisations can be certified.
