2 Personal Statement I am an ambitious designer with a passion for identity and print work. However, I work across a wide range of disciplines including editorial, packaging, motion graphics and web based projects. I achieved a first class honours in Visual Communications at the National College of Art & Design. One of my best qualities is definitely my hard working, efficient and organized work ethic. I love to learn new things and hope to never stop absorbing information. Developing innovative solutions to problems is the most exciting part of design for me. I am a bubbly, happy person by nature and have excellent personal skills with the ability to liaise with clients, suppliers and colleagues. Over the past four years as a designer in both the fashion and media industries, I have become highly proficient in Adobe CS Suite on both Mac OSX and Windows XP. I am able to work under pressure to tight deadlines and ensure the work is produced at the highest level. One of my key roles at Buzz magazine was to interpret and express the publications core values to its readers. This is how I believe I will contribute significantly to any company as I can effectively communicate its brand identity. I enjoy working in a creative team and have the ability to communicate with managers and colleagues alike as my referees can confirm. In addition, I have experience in designing websites. Having designed my own portfolio website, I have good a knowledge of both client side scripting language and server side scripting language. My key objective is to be part of a business culture that supports its staff and encourages opportunities. I believe that my combination of experience, employment and passion would be an asset to any organisation.

4 E-Marketing & Social Media One of the most important tasks for a business is to maintain contact with its customers. newsletters keep users up-to-date with informative content and so I was responsible for this on a daily basis. Each week I was given a list of promotions. I had to design an marketing campaign which would encourage our customers to purchase. newsletters are such a huge representation of a company, which is why design truly matters. As a result of my marketing campaigns, the number of subscribers has increased and those choosing to unsubscribe has decreased. Social Media: To the left is an example of Facebook posts I designed in order to engage with our target market.
5 Glam Zone - Printed Marketing Material Barkins took part in the Glam Zone event at QV shopping center earlier this year. I was given the task of creating printed material that would be handed out to the audience in order to promote barkins newest range. I designed four fold-out posters that offered five outfits under $150. Each poster had a theme and were identified by colour. The posters were hugely successful. The outfits I highlighted were the top sellers of the campaign.
6 Lookbook design for online Look books are a vital marketing tool that showcase personality, enhance a brand and make a line of products memorable. In my role as graphic designer, I had the task of conveying the very essence of the brand to our target market. All lookbooks I designed were for summer ranges and so colour was very important. Each one was designed in order to convey a different look and feel and was always kept fresh and exciting.
7 Design of Gift Cards & promotional material I was given the challenge of designing promotional gift cards to be used in-store during Christmas and also into the New Year. I was instructed to keep the artwork classic and for it not to be specifically related to the holiday period. I also had to create in-store signage and bunting to promote the offer. I designed two cards; one was a gift card and the other a card to be used all year round. Both were kept in black & white in order to make them classic and in keeping with barkins brand identity. A pop of colour and a handwritten message were used in the packaging to convey barkins caring persona. The in-store promotional material was kept bright, clear and concise.
8 Store fit out & Campaign Design (a) As head graphic designer for barkins, I was responsible for every aspect of design. With every new store, I had to create artwork in keeping with the barkins brand. I was asked to design a wallpaper that could be used in every new store to make them consistent. (b) Each campaign was very different and had to be new, fresh and bright. The window display was the main way to convey this and entice the passers by. (a) I designed a beautiful, timeless wallpaper that will not date. It is quite striking in store and is immediately recognizable to our customer. (b) I designed signage, decals, and display features which incorporated key colours of the current range.
9 Marketing material for mesop Design promotional material to be sent to all customers, advertising special sales offers and events. I analysed available stock and designed a newsletter highlighting the surplus stock in order to make it appealing to the customers. I also designed e-flyers and an invitation to the new store opening.
10 Mayfly Arts Festival - Tee-shirt design Tee-shirt design and packaging for the Mayfly Arts Festival. I wanted the arts festival to appeal to everyone, not just those who are naturally creative. So I wanted to equip people with the tools to be creative. The packaging can be used as a stencil for customers to use again and create their own art or just have fun. This also spreads more awareness about the festival.
11 Mayfly Arts Festival - Poster design To design a digital press pack to be sent out and promote the festival. I designed a two sided poster that folds up to encase the motion graphics advertisement and with event guide on the back. I wanted to embody the spirit of the mayfly so I used a line from Irish poet Louise McNeices poem Mayfly as a tag line for the poster. One only day of May alive beneath the sun. This is conveyed by using bright, solid, colours with silhouettes of the mayfly flying beneath the sun.
12 Sculpture promotional booklet During my final year at NCAD I was chosen by the sculpture department to design promotional material for their BA and MA courses. I designed a z-bound booklet in order to join both courses together. However, the booklet opened so that the books remained separate in order to be designed uniquely to appeal to their different target market. The booklet is a sculpture in itself as it is free standing and is a very tactile piece.
13 Sculpture booklet cover To design a dual cover for the z-bound booklet in order to open out into one image. I hand made all the type to make it more tactile and then photographed it. The image for the Bachelors booklet was created by playing it on a television screen to appeal to the technology savvy undergraduate market. I then used handmade wood type for the Masters course to target the more traditional sculptors.
14 Koemba Parent Coaching To design the identity and web site for Ireland s first credited course in parent coaching courses. The name was inspired by the word Wowemba meaning the peaceful smile on a child s face as it dreams in its sleep. I identified early that the smile was the most important part of the imagery for the logo. I incorporated a smile into the name so that it is immediately recognizable and can be used separately to the name. I chose a rounded typeface to soften the logo and make it more approachable.
15 FlyBak Sports Products To design the identity for a company called FlyBak. The company designs sports products and specializes in backpacks. I chose to use the image of a sea turtle as my logo. The sea turtle carries his house on his back with ease and embodies durability and strength. The image can stand alone or with the brand name. The logo is very versatile as I designed a symmetrical image.
16 Graphic Design To Design a magazine supplement for Eye Magazine to illustrate what graphic design means to us personally. To me, graphic design is about working through a process. I tried to show my own personal way of working through an idea by using images from my own notebooks to document my train of thought.
