SIMON MILLER New York WHO I AM With a focus on creativity and passion, Simon Miller mentors the KMS California community in the United States. Following his Mother, Simon found a connection to hairdressing and quickly developed a love for education. Having worked in busy salons in San Francisco and Hollywood California, Simon decided to focus on building others strengths and skills through unique and inspiring classes. Hosting the KMS California Live webcasts and KMS Jam Fests, he introduces the culture of KMS to liked minded stylists all over the country. Touring with the show team, Simon brings news techniques and high energy to cities throughout the USA. Our industry is amazing, unique and powerful, says Simon. When stylists unite we take it to a new level of creativity while having fun and growing our artistry. Always looking for new ways to teach and inspire, Simon is dedicated to constantly pushing the envelope on what sets KMS apart from the rest.

The passion, knowledge and precision she brings to her classes has earned her a reputation for offering some of the best training available anywhere. Sonna s favorite moments are when someone she s teaching truly gets it. A 2014 NAHA winner and award-winning salon owner who regularly works behind the chair, she brings a unique perspective to all her classes that addresses both the artistic and business sides of the profession. With more than two decades in the industry, Sonna s work and insight are regularly featured in industry trade and consumer magazines. LORI PANARELLO New York WHO I AM Lori always knew she wanted to create. Growing up in New York City, she cultivated her love of fashion and architectural design. As a marketing and merchandising major working in NYC s garment center, she thought she would be designing shoes or clothing, but her love for transforming hair, creating movement and texture and shape, led her in another direction. She s been inspired to share her creative energy as an international platform artist and educator. In addition to operating her award-winning salon, I.D., Lori now travels all over the country educating and inspiring stylists as part of the KMS California Artistic Team. Whether at a big hair show or intimate in-salon classes, she loves what she does, which has been recognized in multiple major magazines and web destinations. Styling hair for high-profile fashion events and private shows for top designers fuels her enthusiasm to keep learning and growing as an artist.

As a stylist, salon owner, and educator, Michael believes that technique, creativity and hard work function together to produce a beautiful end result.

25 RTISTS MICHAEL NORAGON Utah WHO I AM A professional stylist for over 13 years, Michael brings a distinctive aesthetic and calculated approach to his work. That one-two punch allows him to draw out each stylist s individuality and inspire them to create unique looks as he travels extensively as an educator for KMS California. As a stylist, salon owner, and educator, Michael believes that technique, creativity and hard work function together to produce a beautiful end result. He continues to strive for perfection in cutting, coloring, styling and hair design. JOI ROOKS Georgia WHO I AM Hailing from the South and with an accent to match, Joi Rooks began her career in education in the 90s while training as an apprentice. She learned early on the value of continuing advanced education in her craft and soon became a member of another professional brand s international artistic team based in New York. Joi became a member of the KMS Artistic Team in Today, she works on stage, in the academies, and in monthly webinars showcasing her work and sharing her knowledge. She loves hearing from stylists she has taught about how much they learned and how they ve applied their new skills behind the chair. Joi was also a part of the KMS team for the NAHA mainstage presentation in 2013, and her work has been featured in numerous industry publications, theatre productions, and photo shoots. Joi feels her strengths are in helping other stylists grow in their cutting and finishing skills. One of my favorite parts of the KMS education portfolio is that you can grow as a stylist at any level.learning the why and how of creating a shape and a texture are key to your overall success. Of her role as an educator, Joi has said: Being a part of someone s growth and a-ha moments is what it s all about I love receiving a message from a stylist after attending a class telling me how much they learned and applied behind the chair in their salon. Her Fresche salon in Decatur & Stone Mountain, Georgia, celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2013.

RTISTS GARRET HAMABATA California WHO I AM Garret is known throughout the industry as an innovative, forward-thinking stylist, with a passion for precision.

He moved to San Francisco in 2008 to become the Salon Director/Master Stylist at Vim & Vigor, where he mentors, trains, and manages the salon team.

A native Californian, Garret spent the first phase of his career establishing himself as a top stylist in Orange County and then Beverly Hills. He moved to San Francisco in 2008 to become the Salon Director/Master Stylist at Vim & Vigor, where he mentors, trains, and manages the salon team. As one of the most sought-after stylists in California, he has loyal clients who travel from all over the country to experience his creative and detailed haircuts. Garret joined the KMS California team in 2004 and now travels the country conducting haircutting seminars and workshops and interacting with other hairstylists. Understanding that each individual learns in a different way, Garret has the ability to connect with seasoned hairstylists and beginners alike. Not only does he inspire others, he is also inspired by the passionate hairstylists with whom he comes in contact. AMEDEO DERANGO Illinois WHO I AM There s nothing like turning the light bulb on for somebody and increasing their success rate, says Amedeo DeRango, KMS California Artistic Team member and Business Master. He grew up in the industry as both of his parents cut hair and his weekends were spent either in one shop or the other. A Chicago native, Amedeo first attended Pivot Point Beauty School in his hometown, and went for additional training in New York City. He augmented his innate business expertise studying Business Management and Administration classes at Elmhurst College, Illinois. A salon owner for over ten years, Amedeo was approached to work at KMS California in 1996 when company representatives watched him perform at a show for another hair care line. As a KMS California Business Master, Amedeo s career experiences give him the expertise to be a leader and motivator who can teach stylists how to grow their businesses. He has created several programs for the company, including Salon Grandeur and a presentation skills program, He also teaches Profit or Perish (POP) 1 and 2. You can go in to a seminar without picking up a pair of shears and reach people on a totally different level. Amedeo was also a Goldwell Guest Artist from before returning to KMS.

His client list includes high-profile Atlantans from business owners to actors. In addition, he provides on-location bridal styling through his specialty wedding business. Talmadge began his career as an assistant to multiple NAHA award winners. Since then, he has continued his education in the U.S. and overseas, completing Goldwell and KMS California training such as the I.Q. Cutting Method, Next-Level Cutting, Finishing and more. Today, Talmadge is passionate about his role as a guest artist for KMS California. And when he s not behind the chair, serving as a guest artist, or enjoying the outdoors, he donates his time and energy to numerous non-profit organizations. PATRICK HIGGINS New York WHO I AM The arts and history of his native Buffalo, New York, play an important role in Patrick Higgins daily inspiration. To Patrick, there s nothing better than making someone feel their best. He s a firm believer in the KMS California philosophy of Real lives, Real people, YOUR style. He is dedicated to having a full understanding of each guest and to creating a style equation unique to them. Being a stylist is the most magnificent job in the world in Patrick s view, where professionals use personality and craft in tandem to create masterpieces every day.

Today, she is a KMS California Artistic Team member and a full-time stylist behind the chair. In her role as an educator, Molly loves engaging with like-minded professionals who want to grow and be at the creative center of the industry. She finds that the rewards of teaching are as diverse as the styles and techniques being taught and often leaves a training event feeling closer to her own creative goals.
