Who wants to answer that loaded question? It would be easier to have a root canal than be honest, LOL! Do you often wonder if some of your clothes make you look fat? Well, the truth is some clothes do make you appear heavier than you are. Not good. Our goal: To wear clothes that balance out our body s proportions. It s what dressing slim is all about!

Don t be afraid to experiment with color. Black is not the only slimming color option. There are many colors and color combinations that can help you look slim. Wear any color monochromatic outfit that goes well with your personal coloring. Choose from any neutral color: gray, black, winter white, browns, deep marsala red, etc. Trim 101: Wear all one color--from head to toe. Wear same color top as the color of your bottom, then add a pretty layer... Despite my insistence that v-necklines are the best, I often hear push-back from ladies. 8 Wear mid-weight fabrics. Fabrics like stretch cotton-blend poplins, midweight jerseys, etc. have nice draping and do NOT cling to your body are best. Anything too clingy or thin shows too much. Also heavy stiff fabrics do nothing but make you look big and boxy. The goal is to see the shape of your body...but not cling to it. KEY TO LOOKING SLIMMER IS ALL ABOUT FIT... Clothes too tight. On the negative side, clothes too tight only make us look like stuffed sausages. Visible rolls calls attention to the torso. This is precisely what we do not want: attention in the wrong places. Clothes too loose. Oversized clothes may hide the imperfections but they don t do us justice. You will look not only bigger, but shapeless. Avoid the extras. Avoid extra material around your tummy. For example: pants with pleats, gathered elastic-waists or drawstring waists only add volume to your waist. Same applies to skirts. Muffin top anyone? I hope not! We re not talking your breakfast muffin here, LOL! What you don t want is a muffin top around your middle-the unsightly rolls or bulges created around your middle when the waist of clothing is too tight or ill-placed on your body. Find the right size (and style) of pants and skirts so you don t have this muffin top look of fleshy spillage at your waist. Most important GO MID- RISE with your pants! The higher (or lower) the waist the BIGGER your tummy and butt will look! Avoid pleats, drawstring pants, and gathered skirts. Think: simple, flat and smooth mid-rise. DON T let your fleshy muffin spill over the top of your pants... STYLE TIP: Look for pant styles with a thick waistbands and/or side zippers that gently smooth over tummies. To go belted or not to go belted...that really is the question isn t it? Guess what? You can and should! Hint at waist definition with a skinny belt that defines your waist.

Play peek-a-boo! Wear a semi-fitted jacket with a belt peeking out underneath. A belt in a similar color to your shirt is best. This is very slimming and waist defining style tip it s a must try! Avoid wider belts if you have an undefined waist or a short waist. Work it, girlfriend. Look for styles that work for your body shape! Look for styles with ruching (gathers) and/or a pattern (print) to disguise an

10 undefined waist. When your shirt has gathers or a band at the bottom, it can hide the rolls that you normally feel self-conscious about. A busy patterned shirt (with a dark background is best). Choose carefully your accessories; they can either make you look heavier or slimmer. For example, if you have a tummy, large belts should be avoided, because they are putting too much attention on your tummy and torso area. The same goes with necklaces too close to your face. Got a figure issue you want to minimize? Wear a jacket and look better balanced. A jacket that nips in at the waist and has a little flare at the bottom (peplum) creates the illusion of an hourglass figure.
