2 DESIGN BRIEF BACKGROUND SUMMARY, since September 2001, has been one of the premier go-to sneaker boutiques in the world. Firmly rooted in island lifestyle & culture, the brand communicates this standard season after season. Over the years, the popularity of has attracted high profile collaborations with Nike, Converse (Product Red), Stussy, Vans, Hurley, and Burton amongst countless other industry leaders. YOU KNOW WHERE WE STAY, a mantra. Hawaii all day, everyday. PROJECT OVERVIEW The purpose of this project is to redesign by creating a user friendly layout through semantic organization & engage new and loyal consumers with a contemporary asthetic that reflects thier identity. TARGET AUDIENCE The focus audience is generally young males ranging from age 15 to early 30 s that consider Hawaii s street wear fashion a priority. COMPETITION WEBSITE Originating from Seattle in 1978, Zumiez provides cutting edge skate & snow lifestyle product throughout Northern America. Unlike Zumiez, caters to the local culture while maintaining trends of today. PROS Zumies website is inviting with apparent marketing techniques & easliy assessable through organization attributes. CONS Their website has averege appeal with no stimulats towards who they are as a company. 3 USER PROFILE USER-SITE INTERACTION EPISODE Nathan was in town for business & wanted to check out the local street wear scene. He looked through yelp & it led him to KICKS/ HI. After spending several minutes browsing through their website Nathan came to the conclusion that he would have to look elsewhere for information about the company & their upbringing. Nathan then found himself scrolling through Facebook. Here he was able to find the information in the about section that he was searching for. Pulling up their website Kawaii was impressed by the imagery on the homepage. He clicked on the tab that read store which brought him to a separate website. After browsing through their products, Kawaii wanted to check out the product they showcased on their homepage. There was no link leading back to the main site. After hitting the back button to the beginning of his search, Kawaii then realized that the homepage was open in a separate window tab. The big image slide-show on their homepage was enough to spark his interest & led him to check out their gallery. The page was filled with a variety of product taken in different settings. Raiden clicked on an image to get a closer look only to discover that he was unable to view the next image let alone exit out. When refreshing the page it took Raiden back to the full gallery, but discouraged him to view further.
