This industry exports to more than 60 countries and has quadrupled the number of export goods per category in the last 15 years. In 2008, the textile and clothing industry contributed with 3.72 percent of Mexico s gross domestic product (GDP) in the manufacturing area. Mexico has a vast experience in manufacturing and exporting casual clothing, suits and lingerie. Regarding production volume, the Mexican shoe market grew 9.1 percent between 2004 and 2008 and it produced million pairs.
