This year, market leaders from France, Italy, Switzerland and Asia-based companies selling European goods will gather in the SalonEurope (hall 6.2) area of the show to share their latest offerings. For some this season, like Italy s Teseo Tessitura Serica Di Olmeda SpA (6.2-H47), fashion will take on a lighter air. It s a season of harmonious juxtapositions: a range of soft and clean fabrics such as organza or georgette, combined with eccentric fabrics and prints which display strong colors and shiny rays of light, the company s Laura S. Clerici said. There is also a continued attention to organic fabric, with new developments on organic nylon. The company specializes in silk classics, custom developments and organic certified goods and will have products including new washable organza, naturally elastic nylon warp and GOTS certified organic wool on offer at the show. Teseo has been exhibiting in Shanghai for a number of seasons and we find the fair is a good way of accessing a wide range of customers in the Chinese market, Clerici said. The Made in Italy high quality products we offer are of great interest for international customers, and Teseo proudly carries on the century-old textile tradition of the Como Silk District. Heading to France, Carreman (6.2-E32) brings with it almost 30 years of experience making mid- to up-market textiles for womenswear and menswear, with specialties in a wide-range of wovens, specialized stretch fabrics, wool and wool-mix textiles. Switzerland s Filtex Ltd (6.2- G46), a textile company based in the embroidery hub of St. Gallen has been in business for 80 years bringing embroideries, fine cotton fabrics, decorative materials, yarns and threads to market. The company counts colors, vitality, creative flair and freshness among its strengths and has one of the most comprehensive historical embroidery and fabric archives. Three Hong-Kong based exhibitors of European brands will hold a place in SalonEurope, each with its own unique offering for the market. At Ulisse China Limited (6.2- H34), based in Hong Kong but headquartered in Italy, garment accessories nod to the high end as the company counts Italian high fashion and international luxury brands among its clients. Thermore (Far East) Ltd (6.2H43) with its roots in Milan, Italy and an office in Kowloon, Hong Kong brings the industry s leading padding and thermal insulation for garments to the show. The company prides itself on developing advanced fibers and innovative structures to help the body maintain its natural warmth. Klingler Asia Ltd (6.2-G44) was established in Switzerland more than 50 years ago and it has maintained its Swiss heritage, though all of its products are now made in Asia. The company specializes in nylon, polyester and other synthetic fiber blends for outdoor travel, trekking, skiing, windsurfing and snowboarding apparel. Rounding out the SalonEurope area, Beste China (6.2-H19), the Chinabased iteration of an Italian textile company, has revolutionized cotton production with techniques that had typically been reserved for wool and cashmere, and has since grown from its 1992 establishment as a textile manufacturer to an entity that can see textiles through to finished garments. American & Efird LLC (6.2-E34), among the world s foremost manufacturers of sewing and embroidery thread as well as technical textiles will bring its quality capabilities for display at the show. Despite decreased GDP, Chinese shoppers still account for nearly half of the global luxury market, and their purchasing power is growing. This is accounted for by the export data of Italian textiles to China (especially wool and linen) that registered growth of 1%. Change in the Chinese market is impressively fast and sweeping. Until recently, luxury goods were seen as a symbol of wealth and status; now they represent an experience, a personal enjoyment. This is a shift amongst younger shoppers who are educated, well-travelled and tech-savvy, and who have absorbed luxury since childhood from their parents generation and are now looking for niche, high-end and bespoke products. The 10th edition of the Milano Unica Pavilion (hall 6.2) confirms the strategic importance of made in Italy in this country.
