2 We have supporting members and partners from other branches in order to foster the cooperation beyond the scope of our association with other related industries. Among our partners are also Textile Research Institutes and specialized Technical Colleges. represents more than 60 % of the German Textile Industry, generating a turnover of approximately 6 billion Euros p.a. We are the only German textile industrial association representing members from all parts of the textile chain from raw materials to consumer products. To act fast and competent for our members we co-operate with other national and international textile organisations like the German Textile and Fashion Confederation GTM, EURATEX, Eurocoton, ITMF, IWTO, UNICE, ETT (European Technical Textiles Club)* *D: Confederation of the German Textile and Fashion Industry, Federation of German Industries (BDI), Bremen Cotton Exchange, German Wool Federation EU: Union of Industrial and Employer s Confederations of Europe (UNICE), European Textile and Apparel Organisation (Euratex), Committee of the Cotton and allied Textile Industries of the E.C. 3 Our main activities in brief: Finishing department: Regular information on environmental topics; news from the textile finishing industry (pre-treatment, dying, finishing, coating); debates between the production supervisors and the environmental assistants. Yarn department: It represents the interests of all German staple fibre spinning mills (including the cotton, woollen and worsted spinning system). Interested parties have an opportunity to research in the yarn database under containing most of the German producers of yarns. Fabric department: It represents the interests of German weaving mills in the following and other areas: Grey fabrics, household textiles, shirting textiles, clothing textiles, fabrics for professional clothing, hospitals and general medicine. Technical Textiles department: It represents the interest of German technical textiles manufacturers, covering all nine market segments and application areas belonging to the market of Technical Textiles. Its activities include regular contacts with car manufacturers and other user industries as well as symposia on new developments for practical applications. FACHTEX is a set of working groups of textile branch associations cooperating in clothing textiles, home and household textiles as well as technical textiles. ETT European Technical Textiles Club regroups the common interests of European producers of Technical Textiles via annual symposia on specific industry topics related to technical textiles. 3
