2 SPRING 2016 FALL 2016 WHO WE ARE Western & English Today is an award-winning business-to-business magazine published four times annually in correlation with the industry s largest and most reputable trade shows. Our goal: We re here to help promote your brand by connecting you with and building your credibility among discerning retailers. We want to put your collection in front of the right people. In addition to showcasing the latest in apparel, accessories, décor, and gifts, we stay dialed in to what s going on in the industry. Our editorial covers topics such as smart business practices, buying trends, manufacturer-retailer relations, digital marketing, and social media. It also includes an annual survey-based State of the Industry Report and a Source directory of exhibitors at major industry markets. We want our readers to learn something from every issue. EDITOR'S PICK CREATIVE COLLABORATIONS Double D Ranch was first, but two more top names in Western fashion have followed in step, lending their distinctive styles to these new designer collections by Lane Boots. PHOTOGRAPHY: COURTESY LANE BOOTS DOUBLE D RANCH by he elevated-yet-edgy Western couture look that Tdefines Double D Ranchwear extends into the Double D Ranch Collection by Lane Boots. Styles range from the nostalgia-made-modern imagery of the Retro Rodeo and Warrior Dreams boots to the sleek-and-sexy Cheetah Chic design. But the signature in this collection, first introduced in 2011, is the Am mu nition boot, which calls to mind a classic Double D leather moto jacket encrusted with studs and silver crosses. New debuts for 2016 include an open-toe bootsandal hybrid lined with fringe and a summer shorty with side cutouts. CORAL & TUSK WAYFARER oral & Tusk a collection of linen décor and gifts embroidered with the narrative designs of artist Stephanie Housley has become Crenowned for its fanciful depictions of woodland creatures and A-to-Z animals that seem to have jumped out of storybooks to play atop pillows and quilts. (Think Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr. Fox retold with sewing needle and thread.) Which may lead you to assume it's a children's line. But you'd be wrong. While Coral & Tusk does feature playthings and flags all too fitting for a nursery, its whimsical designs have been just as well-received by the young-at-heart adult so much so that Housley, who cofounded the company with husband Chris Lacinak in 2007, eventually began to also apply her signature art to the likes of tea towels, table linens, and stationery. Most recently, appealing to a broader grown-up audience, Housley debuted an entirely new line of embroidered linen pillows and fabrics with a seriously stylish vibe. The new geometric Wayfarer Collection better befits the modern ranch house than the playroom, and its bold, graphic prints hint at Native inspirations, reminding us of new-age Navajo blankets. This past year the two were reunited under one roof when the C&I team, both sales and art/edit, brought W&E back in-house to update and elevate. Goals for 2017? We re focused on building strong, lasting relationships with manufacturers and retailers in both the Western and English industries and, of course, we want to make every issue better than the last.
