18 Munich Fabric Start // CLOSING REPORT SPRING.SUMMER 19 GREAT INTERNATIONAL FLAIR STRONG INTERACTION With the 44th edition has the latest show of MUNICH FABRIC START set another milestone. New technologies, innovative sustainable materials, special dyeing and finishing processes, shine, colour and prints are the tendencies and, at the same time, a plea for rich fabrics in Spring. Summer 19. A definite among the fashion favourites for the next summer season is the range of intensive colours, translated into new nuances. Combined with shine, from iridescent and Lurex and lamé through to lacquered finishes. Offering great potential are current developments and innovations in the field of sustainability that serves a huge spectrum of smart solutions and natural processes. Awareness of natural production methods and resource saving is growing noticeably along the sector s entire value-added chain. Numerous approaches from recycling and
19 Munich Fabric Start closed-loop systems through to natural dyeing processes form further focal points which are further developed and feature an ever wider and heavier weighting on the market. The investment in a progressive format consistently pursued by MUNICH FABRIC START is paying off. The platform for product presentation, innovation and interaction through to technical process solutions is understood and brings great traction. Our declared aim is to develop our pioneering role as an innovative trade fair, to intensify our commitment, to support our partners with the ever more demanding and complex tasks, to supply input and initiate partnerships. Wolfgang Klinder, Managing Director at MUNICH FABRIC START Its continual rise in popularity among international buyers, designers and product managers as well as three very well attended days at the fair underline the significance of MUNICH FABRIC START as one of the most important trade fairs in the international textile industry. Going down particularly well were the Trend and Colour Forums that offered sound insights into new fabric and accessory highlights and impressively staged the colour themes for the new season. The extended seminar programmes on topics like Smart Textiles, AI in Fashion, Sustainability and Fashion Trends also offered lots of input and insights that went down very well with trade visitors. We are totally impressed by the input offered by MUNICH FABIC START in the different segments. This definitely has the potential for two days. We will be putting this slot for September into our diaries. Angela Wendel, Adidas Munich Fabric Start is a totally exciting trade fair with great exhibitors and interesting products. Very modern, very innovative and huge. I have always found my highlights here, also this season. Marcel Ostertag At MUNICH FABRIC START we work in a targeted and focused manner to finalise the collection. We always discover innovations that are great for rounding
Munich Fabric Start 20 off collections. At this trade fair we also value the combination of denim and fabric ranges. For us this is a perfect fit. While already rounding off the denim segment with this trade fair we also take another in-depth look in the flats segment. Michael Seiter, Holy Fashion Group One of the special highlights at MUNICH FABRIC START is without a doubt the exclusive private lecture given by Li Edelkoort in the impressive backdrop and architecture of BMW World. Some 200 guests avidly followed the trend researcher s comments delivered here for the first time on the 19/20 Autumn.Winter season. KEYHOUSE KEYHOUSE developed its very own special dynamics as an innovation and technology centre. As a platform for the fusion of fashion, innovation and technology Keyhouse posted three intense days with high visitor footfall. This makes it clear how intense the search for smart process solutions is, how important and prestigious the topic of sustainability is and how extensively smart textiles, biotech and digitalisation have been integrated. And so the interest in interactions, seminars and guided tours was also huge, for instance the ones carried out exclusively by Sourcebook and FashNerd. We value the interdisciplinary nature of this event. This is particularly important for us, especially in the field of technological innovations and wearables. Many great things only arise when you bring together the key collaborators. This is the fourth time we have been actively involved in KEYHOUSE and we observe an increasing openness on the part of the audience towards the integration of technology in textiles. Marte Hentschel, Sourcebook KEYHOUSE and BLUEZONE as an integrative part of MUNICH FABRIC START have established themselves as an incubator for textile innovation and cross-sector collaborations and are continuing to develop to push ahead with the topics of Sustainability and Smart Fashion for the future. The event is marked by an open attitude towards industry-relevant questions and
21 Munich Fabric Start discussions and it actively promotes knowledge exchange between those involved. Tomas Vucurevic, BRAIND Already for the fourth time now KEY- HOUSE hosted the presentation of the HighTex Award, MUNICH FAB- RIC START s innovation prize. The 1st prize went to Soorty Enterprises from Pakistan for a sustainably produced denim fabric. Achieving second place was Vivify Textiles from Australia for a 100% recycled polyester satin. Third went to Tintex Textiles from Portugal for an interlocked cotton fabric with recycled elasthane. The prizes were awarded by a jury of media experts and fashion professionals consisting of Regine Hövelmann (AMD Akademie Mode & Design), Alexander Vogt (Kern Kommunikation), Simon Angel (Lecturer Sustainable Business and Strategy, Fashion Masters at ArtEZ), Frank Junker (Creative Director Munich Fabric Start) and Joachim Baumgartner (Fabrics & Trends, Munich Fabric Start). The KEYHOUSE features future textile related developments and perspectives. The Sustainable Innovations Area is a meeting point for textile professionals to explore, to share knowledge and to inspire. The KEYHOUSE context created an energetic environment to start conversations with designers, product developers, press, scientists and companies from interdisciplinary sectors like automotive, interior, healthcare or education. The personal interaction was highly appreciated and has led follow-up. Simon Angel, Curator at Sustainable Innovations BLUEZONE The current BLUEZONE (30 to 31 January 2018) closed after two days as the best Denim Show since its inception. The growing interest from international brands in product innovations, modified finishes and
22 new production processes was very apparent. By combining BLUEZONE with KEYHOUSE as an interactive and thematically concentrated centre of innovation a unique and pulsating platform has arisen here that is gaining in international appeal and prestige. We have created a trendsetting format here for a swift-acting sector that sets new standards. Sebastian Klinder, Managing Director at MUNICH FABRIC START This not only benefits the over 100 leading international Denim + Sportswear Fabric suppliers but also, very specifically, the increasing quality of visitors from home and abroad. A clear signal of the importance of BLUEZONE and its timing were the numerous market launches and product developments presented here for the first time. For instance, Candiani Denim with their biodegradable denim development Re-Gen, alongside Kitotex and Indigo Juice. Or Orta with Exoart and the new Denim Tech line. Kassim Denim presented the new Premium-Sustainability line Made in Germany in cooperation with German universities. Calik Denim showcased the lines Smart Stretch and Fly Jean. SAAT launched their Dyneema Capsule Collection in cooperation with BMW Motorcycles and Naveena Denim. Panos Sofianos, Denim Curator at BLUEZONE The workshops and panels initiated in the Denim Club as well as the vibrantly led discussions and talks show how important and popular exchange and networking are in the sector. From these impulses a strong Denim Community has now developed with incomparable commitment. The BLUEZONE is far more than just a platform for collection presentation. It is also trendsetting marking a significant change in direction, especially in conjunction with KEYHOUSE as a complementary centre of innovation. It is the ideal forum for us to present
23 Munich Fabric Start here our Ecody concept as well as Functional Denim. Gülfem Santo, Orta The BLUEZONE has great appeal, especially for the northern European market. This is where the denim community meets. At the same time, the quality of visitors is very high. Not coming here simply isn t an option. Harun Akgül, F Blue the large range of information featuring panel discussions and expert talks goes so well with this trade fair s USP. Mohsin Sajid, Endrime For me BLUEZONE is held at a very favourable time for viewing new developments again. I also value the business atmosphere here. Exhibitors and buyers talk about topics that move the sector, about new concepts and paths. The combination here is also unique with the key denim producers on the one hand and the technical know-how from other industries on the other. The event shows you everything that can be possible in future if you are prepared to adopt innovative paths. This is also why

VIEW PREMIUM SELECTION
View Premium Selection 27 // VIEW PREMIUM SELECTION PROFILE What started as an exclusive Preview date has now developed into a well-established trade fair with international appeal. VIEW, the Preview Textile Fair of MUNICH FABRIC START, offers the assured information and planning security so crucial at an early point in time thereby responding immediately to changed processes and seasonal market shifts. The concept of the two consecutive and complementary trade fair concepts of VIEW Premium Selection and MUNICH FABRIC START has proved correct and forward-looking.
28 View Premium Selection // FABRIC SECTIONS At VIEW more than 350 collections of leading international fabrics and additionals suppliers provide the first well-researched preview of the textile and fashion trends for the respective season. At this early point in time the powerful portfolio of increasingly finalised and fine-tuned collections already impresses the leading creative teams of the national and international brands and designers expected in Munich. They showcase their developments in the areas of fabrics for men and women, additionals with findings and accessories as well as the initial highlights for denim & sportswear. Equally powerful are the early innovation proposals made by VIEW DESIGN STU- DIOS with the latest prints and patterns. Next to a wide range of 90 new collections and new power-house suppliers renowned exhibitors from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, England,, Japan and Italy present the latest developments.
29 View Premium Selection // CLOSING REPORT SPRING.SUMMER 19 VIEW PREMIUM STRONG NETWORK WITH RISING VALUE ADDED More suppliers, increased exhibition space along with a continual rise in length of stay from high-quality visitors from home and abroad. This is the verdict of VIEW Premium Selection in Munich from 5 to 6 December The latest edition of VIEW has once again confirmed its position as the leading Preview Textile Fair. This is underlined, not only by the numerous newcomers in the various product areas of women s and men s wear and denim but also by the creation of further presentation space in the Gallery of the MVG Museum as well as the additional use of the workshops for selected denim and sportswear suppliers. In particular, the strong, broad international collection portfolio from leading textile agencies made for a concentrated working atmosphere and a very positive mood over both days of the event. This is more than a satisfactory result. We are particularly delighted at the rise once again in length of stay from the ever more numerous regular visitors. This means VIEW has achieved its aim of becoming an early, professional and stable community platform with continuing growth potential. Wolfgang Klinder, Managing Director at MUNICH FABRIC START As many as four major renowned textile agencies presented their portfolio at the Preview Textile Fair at MUNICH FABRIC START for the first time. Alongside the textile agencies Max Müller, Thomas Geiger and Püttmann Tex-Research also exhibited at VIEW for the first time. AS MANY AS FOUR MAJOR RENOWNED TEXTILE AGENCIES PRE- SENTED THEIR PORTFOLIO AT THE PREVIEW TEXTILE FAIR AT MUNICH FABRIC START FOR THE FIRST TIME.
View Premium Selection 30 We are very satisfied with the coordination and organisation of the trade fair. The mood at VIEW and the setting of the show suit us and our fashion range. We have been able to welcome to the stand all our customers who attended the event. In July we will once again be represented at VIEW with as many suppliers as possible to facilitate this relaxed and intense work in Munich. Thomas Püttmann, Püttmann Textilagentur The prime reason for the move from Goldberg Studios to the MVG Museum is to make it easier for our customers. No shuttles, no location change and therefore no time wasting. Customer reaction was therefore very, very positive. Our suppliers were able to take away only positives from the new location. Obviously, we will be participating at the next VIEW. Thomas Nick Müller, Max Müller Textilagentur In parallel to the increased numbers of Pre-Collections suppliers exhibiting the portfolio of quality collections in the VIEW FABRICS and VIEW ADDITIONALS segments of the exhibiting companies rose from approx. 300 to a total of over 360. The combination of MUNICH FABRIC START with the BLUEZONE and VIEW Premium Selection gives rise to optimum synchronisation for the greatest possible planning security for collection design. Especially since the early ranges of fabrics and additionals are already well developed with strong, consolidated messages. To supplement this, numerous collections were broadened with topical and concentrated delivery themes for immediate ranges and/or Winter 18/19. For us the trade fair was very successful. Our customers are increasingly taking to this early date and not just those from the region. Here it is not just about discussing new developments as is often the case at early events. This is also where we already see the first doubled goods Furthermore, the new denim area with its connection to the workshops is very successful. The layout with short distances is perfectly designed. We feel very at home in this setting. Denis Purvis, Tejidos Royo
In addition to an initial selection from our summer range we also still feature selections from the winter collection. For Pronto Moda or for winter capsule collections. Overall, it is fair to say the strict division into seasons now only has limited validity. Michele Cappio, Cappio Tessuti For some manufacturers the date of VIEW is ideal. The men s wear segment, in particular, already kicks off here with concrete concepts while in women s wear s it is primarily the high-quality lines that are pushing ahead. We even already saw doubled goods. Here in Munich work proceeds at varying rhythms. Flexibility is required. Furthermore, we also use VIEW primarily as a platform to sound out the market. For us it is not about presenting a finished collection. In any case, the high quality of visitors says a great deal about this trade fair. Frank Weber, Velcorex With the individual approach to VIEW Premium Selection and the ensuing final range at MUNICH FABRIC START it has been possible to create a wholistic trade fair profile that boasts sufficient flexibility. This puts us in a position to be able to react to market developments, support pioneering processes with the segments and create sustainable innovations and impulses. Sebastian Klinder, Managing Director at MUNICH FABRIC START 31 The latest VIEW has shown that a clearly defined format and a high degree of identification are considerable stabilisers for a growing and functioning community that generates a high level of efficiency.
MUNICH APPAREL SOURCE
Munich Apparel Source 33 // MUNICH APPAREL SOURCE PROFILE The MUNICH APPAREL SOURCE Fair will be held from 5 to 7 September 2017, running for the first time concurrently with MUNICH FABRIC START. Approx. 200 international companies will be exhibiting their products and services here revolving around Manufactured Sourcing. Its range targets European brands and labels searching reliable manufacturing partners with quality standards on a global scale. Also featuring on the first day s agenda at MUNICH APPAREL SOURCE is an expert conference with high-calibre delegates on the Future of the Fashion Industry hosted by Holger Knapp, CEO of the publishing house Deutscher Fachverlag.
34 Munich Apparel Source // PRESS RELEASE MUNICH FABRIC START LAUNCHES NEW TRADE FAIR: MUNICH APPAREL SOURCE ADDS MANUFACTURING SOURCING SERVICE TO THE PORT- FOLIO The decision has been taken. The next MUNICH APPAREL SOURCE will be held from 4 to 6 September 2018 as an integrated event of MUNICH FABRIC START and directly connected to the MOC. The strategic and future-oriented new concept of dovetailing the two trade events in terms of both location and content is the result of an intense survey of the current market requirements as well as exhibitor and visitor expectations. The trade fair location of Munich offers optimum prerequisites for giving visitors comprehensive insight into the entire textile production chain and therefore also real synergy effects. This means MU- NICH FARBIC START is also continuing the strategy of extending its portfolio to include the next stage in the value added chain thereby offering a comprehensive service and product range for the fashion industry at one location. We were self-critical in our analysis of the first MUNICH APPAREL SOURCE in September We will use the next few months to develop an integrated and therefore sustainable concept. As a trade fair organiser and initiator we have a very clear mission with a concrete remit that we will fulfil with great commitment and responsibility. Wolfgang Klinder, Managing Director at MUNICH FABRIC START Measures promoting a sharper profile include the testing and presence of relevant supply countries and their companies in terms of compliance with European product standards. Beyond this the analysis of production processes and solutions in line with the latest market requirements. Just like earlier this year specialist lectures will present the performance of specific countries and regions in detail. This includes production capacities, production fo- MUNICH FABRIC START LAUNCHES NEW TRADE FAIR: MUNICH APPAREL SOURCE

The aim here with MUNICH APPAREL SOURCE is to offer a reliable international network platform and comprehensive and practical know-how on all key sourcing markets. For this reason comprehensive profiles of the exhibiting firms will provide information on their range of products and services as well as the available certifications. Global sourcing markets are still displaying great dynamism and movement with rapid shifts. These go hand in hand with promising opportunities. At MUNICH FABRIC START with integrated MUNICH APPAREL visitors can gather information on all the latest developments and trends in order to gear the development and manufacture of their products up to the future. At MUNICH FABRIC START we remain convinced that due to the ever stronger dovetailing of the markets, the increasing impact of digitalisation and the provocative change in consumer purchasing behaviour the complex presentation of reliable sourcing management is more important than ever. For this reason we are offering a professional, reliable and high-quality forum with two complementary trade fairs. Sebastian Klinder, Managing Director at MUNICH FABRIC START
STATEMENTS
37 Statements To us the offer of one early event in the form of VIEW and one principal trade fair held a few weeks later is simply ideal. At VIEW we select the basic materials, which we then have tested on prototypes over the following weeks. If the fabrics live up to our quality requirements we discuss specific colours, references and patterns with the suppliers at MU- NICH FABRIC START. Another big plus of this trade fair is the perfect organisation and the unique atmosphere. Alejandro Miralles Giro, Hugo Boss The new areas on the Zenith premises are very inspiring above all, the new denim hall with its extremely pleasant daylight ambience. We very much welcome this extension and are delighted with this new highlight complementing the MOC. But the ranges displayed in the main building also always meet our expectations to the full every time. We work here flat out for three full days. Filled with these impressions we now discuss the finalisation of our collection. Michel Willems, Alberto MUNICH FABRIC START has become a key communication platform for our company. Our international business partners use MUNICH FABRIC START to research the principal product trends with us. The timing of MFS suits this, also especially for innovative fast brand concepts. What s more, we always appreciate this accomplished mix of professional ranges and relaxed working atmosphere. Hans-Peter Hiemer, Business4Brands Consulting For the medium to high-end segment MUNICH FAB- RIC START seamlessly follows on from the sampling business started at VIEW. New developments pick up on the latest trends and translate these for the following delivery dates, the main collections and/ or the second lines of the new season. MUNICH FA- BRIC START has also gained in importance for our customers season on season. The ever more anticipated seasonal cycles have increasingly confirmed the right timing of MUNICH FABRIC START. By international standards it also a trade fair of shorter distances and lower costs for our customers. Martin Dolleschel, Union Knopf The rising number of trade fairs specialising in denim is proof of the special importance the fashion sector, and not just this, attaches to this segment. Regarding our German business, BLUEZONE is definitely the most important trade fair. It is the second event in our trade fair calendar to which we bring new collections. Our customers first go to Denim by but they only place orders in Munich. This trade fair allows us to get the first perceivable feedback for our work. Arianna Morimando, Berto E.G.
