3 2 Sewing Contests Casual Outfit Garment must be sewn For beginners Garment is judged for construction techniques Submit: 1. Personal Data Packet 2. Garment Creative Choice Garment must be sewn For more experienced Must have at least 5 features listed Garment is judged for construction techniques What s Judged: 1. Garment Construction 2. Appearance Judging
4 2 No-Sew or Sewing Optional Contests Ready to Wear Outfit may be completely ready to wear garments or a combination of RTW and sewn garments with $100 limit Consumer Judging/Decision Making Knowledge of fibers, fabrics, and construction techniques Complete Garment Analysis ranking garments and two tests on analysis of garments Garment is not submitted for judging For those who love to shop and shop smart Designer s Choice Outfit may be completely RTW, found in grandmother s attic, three garments redesigned into one, all sewn, or a combination of all. Knowledge of design principles and elements Sketching Garment is not submitted for judging For an artist, designer or stylist; For those with an eye for fashion

Sketch this outfit 6. Design a collection of two more outfits that maintains that signature 7. Create a portfolio. 8. Submit portfolio along with personal data packet 9. Wear outfit for Appearance Judging and Fashion Show Garments may be from grandmother s attic be pre-owned be purchased retail or thrift store be completely designed and sewn be re-designed or repurposed from ready to-wear garments A combination of ready to -wear and sewn garments
7 Portfolio In addition to contestant information 10 developmental sketches Sketch of outfit wearing for 4-H U Sketch of Collection Explanation or description of Inspiration Design principles and elements used Signature maintained the signature of the outfit. Croquis (or models, both male and female) are included Submit Both Portfolio and data packet for judging. Garment is not submitted for judging. Contestant must model outfit for appearance judging and the Fashion Show during 4-H U. 12 My Collection Second Page My Collection A collection is a line of clothing designs that communicate the designer s inspiration or new trends during a particular season. My signature? Answer: My signature is the repetition of the horizontal striped fabric and the color yellow.

17 Collection Signature? What a signature? A signature look is something which repeats itself in your collection. Can be found in Design Line Color Fabric Texture Shape Answer: Peplum (A short overskirt or ruffle attached at the waistline of a jacket, blouse, or dress) though trimmed differently is repeated in each outfit. Necklace of beads though different lengths is repeated in each outfit.
