6 SPEECH 1 By Ms. Ho Thi Kim Thoa, Vice Minister - Ministry of Industry & Trade at the Opening Ceremony of SAIGONTEX 2014 First of all, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, I would like to warmly welcome distinguished guests, representatives of enterprises and media representatives to the SaigonTex 2014 in HCMC Ladies and Gentlemen, As we all know, the textile and garment sector always ranks high in terms of export turnover in the Vietnam s economy. In recent years, the textile and garment sector has always achieved good growth and are competitive in the domestic and the world markets. The local content in export products, revenues and profits, income of workers and contribution to the national budget have all increased significantly. Achievements in production and business activities have helped the textile and garment sector continues to be the leader in the national exports: in 2013, export turnover reached $ 20.4 billion, an increase of 18% compared with In particular, exports alone accounted for 19.8 billion, up 16.9 % and accounting for 15% of exports of the country. Export of textile and garment materials, footwear products of Vietnam is estimated to reach USD 905 million. Moreover, in recent years, Vietnam's garment and textile industry has continuously improved its investment climate, expanded cooperation, attracted investment and promoted production cooperation with partner countries such as South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China... With the increased growth in export turnover of textile and garment products, Vietnam continues to confirm its position as the world s leading manufacturer and exporter of textile and garment products, as well as an attractive destination for investors and manufacturers of textile and garment in the world. Ladies and Gentlemen, In its strategy for the development of the Vietnam s textile and garment industry to 2020, the industry has set targets such as export turnover of $ 25 billion, the localization rate of 60% to 70%. These targets demonstrate an urgent need for technological innovation, improvement of quality control, labor management, environmental management, as well as improvement the textile and garment supply chain in accordance with international standards. Along with that orientation, the negotiations of TPP Agreement and a number of other Free Trade Agreements such as Viet Nam - EU FTA, the FTA between Vietnam and the Customs Union comprising of Russia Belarus Kazakhstan will create great opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises in selecting and working with leading producers and suppliers of equipment and accessories for the textile and garment industry, which will make an important contribution to the success of Vietnam's garment and textile industry in the future.

7 Vietnam Saigon Textile & Garment Industry/Fabric & Garment Accessories Expo is an annual event with a history of over 23 years, bringing together many world s leading textile and garment enterprises. This event has incessantly grown over years. The Vietnam SaigonTex 2014 locates in an area of more than m2, an increase of more than 20% compared to 2013, with the participation of more than 500 companies from 22 countries and territories showcasing their products at the event. SPEECH 2 Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, Vice Chairman of Hochiminh City People s Committee at the Opening Ceremony of SAIGONTEX 2014 Ms. Ho Thi Kim Thoa, Vice Minister, Ministry of Industry and Trade Distinguished guests, ladies & gentlemen, Today, in the joyful atmosphere of the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Saigon Textile & Garment Industry Expo 2014, Vietnam Saigon Fabric & Garment Accessories Expo 2014 held in Ho Chi Minh City, I would like to be on behalf of the City People's Committee, to send my warmest greetings to you all. Ladies and Gentlemen In the year 2013, the world economy continues to face a number of challenges; our economy is also facing many difficulties and challenges. But under the leadership of the Party and the efforts of the entire political system, businesses and people of the whole country, the socio-economic situation of the country has had positive developments, following the strategic orientation and basically achieving its

8 objectives. With a population of over 90 million people, in which the young population accounts for a large proportion, Vietnam ranks as the 13th most populous country in the world; it is evaluated as a potential and attractive market. Meanwhile, the textile and garment industry is an important economic sector of the country, and for many years has been the leading economic sector in terms of export turnover in Vietnam in general and HCM City in particular is the second consecutive year that VN enjoys trade surplus (which is U.S. $ 863 million) since its accession to the World Trade Organization in Constituting to this achievement is the significant contribution of the Vietnam s textile and garment industry in general and Vietnam Textile and Garment Group in particular, reflected by its impressive growth of 18.6 % compared to that of the year 2012, in which textile and garment exports reached $ 20.4 billion, ranking second after phone and electronic accessories in terms of export turnover. The industry has also created nearly 200,000 jobs. Ladies and gentlemen, As one of the largest and the most dynamic economic center of the country, Ho Chi Minh City authority is committed to giving support and creating favorable conditions for investment and business activities of both domestic and foreign enterprises. I think the fact that Vietnam Textile and Garment Group together with other partners has organized the international exhibition specialized for the textile and garment industry in Ho Chi Minh City for many years has been contributing positively to the further development of the textile and garment industry of Vietnam through the introduction of new equipment and technology for the textile and garment enterprises to produce high quality products while creating the opportunities for businesses in the host country to get access to the supply of raw materials for the textile and garment business; I hope that this exhibition will bring opportunities to businesses in Vietnam s textile and garment industry to be exposed to advanced technology. This is also an opportunity to promote business partnership, technology transfer, and trade between domestic and foreign partners. With a diverse collection of products on display and the professional organization, I believe this exhibition will be a good platform for manufacturers to introduce, promote their products as well as for visitors to explore and search for suitable products; I highly appreciate the efforts of the organizers and I wish the organizers as well as domestic and foreign enterprises a continued success in the future. SPEECH 3 Mr. Hoang Van Dzung, First Vice Chairman of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Opening Ceremony of SAIGONTEX 2014 Ladies and Gentlemen, First of all, on behalf of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry of (VCCI,) I would like to warmly welcome you all to the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Saigon Textile & Garment Industry Expo 2014, Vietnam Saigon Fabric & Garment Accessories Expo Ladies and Gentlemen, Textile and garment is one of the key economic sectors of the country, it also has a lot of potential for further development. Textile and garment industry has been leading the country s export turnover, creating a number of jobs and contributing significantly to the Vietnam s economy. To maintain export growth and to meet the demand of the domestic market, the textile and garment industry needs to increase the product volume and product value.
