2 FALL REFRESH Target s weekly promo is all about fall. The retailer is focusing on seasonal housewares and apparel for the family, offering discounts on boots, outerwear and accessories, kids coats, and men s longsleeved shirts and jackets. In the Halloween section, customers can find special edition candies and snacks, decorations, and costumes for toddlers, kids and dogs. Also, Target has created a top toys list featuring items such as the Barbie Dream House and VTech Kidizoom Action Cam. SAVE ON THE MUST-HAVES The Macy s Fashion Focus Sale is running from October and features discounts on fall must-have items for women. Customers can also enjoy 30% off juniors apparel by Jessica Simpson, XOXO and Material Girl; 25% off denim items for women; 25% 40% off accessories; an extra 25% off shoes and boots; and 30% off sleepwear. The retailer is offering an extra 25% off a purchase of $100 or more when customers use a Macy s WOW! Pass. US PROMO HIGHLIGHTS SCARY GOOD DEALS As Halloween approaches, Walgreens is offering a wide variety of products for the holiday, from costumes to decor to special edition candies. Kmart devoted page 12 of its circular to promoting discounts on costumes, wigs, masks and decor. Discounts on other items for women, men and kids range from 25% 40% at Kmart. 3 COLUMBUS DAY SALE Sears is celebrating Columbus Day and offering savings on fall apparel items for the family along with the usual discounts on Kenmore and other top-brand appliances. In the clothing department, the retailer is offering 50% off jeans for the family, 40% off fall footwear, 40% off cold weather accessories, up to 25% off branded watches and fashion clearance items for $3.99. Bedding, jewelry and small kitchen appliances are on sale, too. THANK YOU CELEBRATION Saks Fifth Avenue is thanking its customers by offering 25% off selected items in its Friends & Family event. In the women s department, participating brands include Lanvin, Vince, Just Cavalli and J Brand, while in the men s department, items by Lacoste, Theory, Hugo Boss and Michael Kors are also on sale. This week, Bloomingdale s is featuring an event called The Fashion Score, and offering 20% off a purchase of $100 $249.99, 25% off a purchase of $250 $ and 30% off a purchase of $500 or more. Discounts apply to women s, men s and kids apparel, shoes, handbags, jewelry and accessories, as well as to home categories. 4 TWO BIG DEALS House of Fraser was running two headline deals this week. The first was for up to 50 (US$77) off selected coats, bags and boots as part of its AW15 promotion. Offers included a Michael Kors Hamilton Black Large Zip Top Tote Bag for 50 off, at 190 (US$293). The retailer s second big promotion was the continuance of its Fashion and Home Clearance Event, featuring up to 70% off selected items. Deals included a Lipsy Floral Print Dress at half price ( 29, US$45) and 80 (US$123) off an Aquascutum Hetton Men s Two-Piece Suit ( 395, US$608). CHRISTMAS KICKOFF Marks & Spencer opened its online Christmas Shop this past week, and kicked off the season with a three-for-two offer on selected Christmas decorations, cards, lights and gifts. The retailer is also encouraging customers to shop early for food, with a free bottle of wine or box of chocolates with every party food or Christmas food order over 75 (US$116). M&S is also running a buy two, save 5% offer on champagne. UK PROMO HIGHLIGHTS PUSHING HALLOWEEN AT ASDA Rival grocery chain Asda featured online promotions this week that focused on Halloween, with the retailer promising fancy-dress outfits from 10 (US$15). 5 NEW BRAND PROMISE Tesco s marketing communications this week were dominated by the launch of its Brand Guarantee, which pledges that shoppers will never pay more for branded grocery items than they would at big rivals Asda, Sainsbury s and Morrisons. The Brand Guarantee replaces Tesco s Price Promise, which also pledged to match prices on own-label goods and fresh products. Tesco says the new scheme is better, as shoppers will be refunded instantly at the checkout, instead of through vouchers. At Tesco Direct, the retailer s nongrocery website, the headline deal this week was an Up to Half Price Toy Sale. Offers included a Disney Frozen 26-Piece Tea Set for half off at 5 (US$8). KEEP WARM AND BRIGHT AT BHS This week, BHS offered up to 50% off all lighting, from floor lamps to chandeliers. Offers included 50% off the Clear Pearl Pendant Light ( 150, US$231). BHS was also running a 20% off sale on all knitwear, with a Ladies Green Cotton Crew Neck Jumper down to (US$19.71) and a Charcoal Alpaca Cardigan reduced to 28 (US$43). UK PROMO HIGHLIGHTS MID-SEASON SALE AT DEBENHAMS Department store chain Debenhams continued its midseason sale this week, with offers of half off womenswear, menswear and kidswear as well as shoes, home and furniture. Womenswear deals included an RJR.John Rocha Designer White Longline Cardigan at 50% off ( 19.75, US$30.42). Home offers included a Raymond Blanc Four- Piece Pan Set for half off, at 110 (US$169).
