Have fun at PFI s summer sewing and fashion camps with kids sewing teacher and author Lynn Weglarz SEWING CAMPS. $120/person (includes patterns, handouts, sewing machine) Camp 1: Monday-Thursday, July 9-12, 10 am-1 pm. Learn to use a sewing machine. Learn how to sew straight lines and hems. Make a sleepover pillowcase and drawstring bag. Camp 2: Monday-Thursday, July 16-19, 10 am-1 pm. Make PJ pants and a pouch that s perfect for a smartphone. Camp 3: Monday-Thursday, July 23-26, 10 am-1 pm. Girls Make a twirly skirt. Sew on elastic. Add trims and sparklies. Boys make a messenger bag. Wear or take your new garment home. FASHION DESIGN CAMPS. $120/person (includes handouts, sewing machine). Choose Camp 1, 2 or 3. Or if you have lots of ideas, all 3! Cut and paste a mood board. Then make simple sketches to create a trend-appropriate look to showcase your style as a designer. Use one of your sketches to make your own fashion garment. 7 Announcing the Tricia Langman collaboration PFI is pleased to announce a collaboration with one of the nation s rising textile designers, Tricia Langman. British-born Langman has designed for Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Halston and Donna Karan. Her collections have been featured at the Costume Institute in New York City. She created a hand-painted gown for Celine Dion to wear at the Grammy s. Locally, she created a collection for Pendleton. This summer for PFI she teaches three weekend textile design workshops: Hand painting and dyeing July 14-15, 9:30 am-3:30 pm Fabric printing July 21-22, 9:30 am-3:30 pm Sculptural effects July 28-29, 9:30 am-3:30 pm register (503)

8 TRICIA LANGMAN COLLABORATION WORKSHOPS HAND PAINTING AND DYEING Saturday-Sunday, July 14-15, 9:30 am-3:30 pm $249 (includes kit) Textile composition, color and materials and inspiration boards. Use dyeing techniques of the past to create scarfs and fabrics. Learn tie-dye and hand painting techniques, shibori, overdyeing, rust dyeing, vegetable dyeing and batik. FABRIC PRINTING Saturday-Sunday, July 21-22, 9:30 am-3:30 pm $249 (includes kit) Fabric printing techniques. Composition and repeat patterns. Produce fabric samples, a length of fabric and create surface designs suitable for garments or home decor. Learn screenprinting, stenciling and devoré, Japanese katazome printing, block and mono printing techniques. SCULPTURAL EFFECTS & OPEN STUDIO Saturday-Sunday, July 28-29, 9:30 am-3:30 pm $249 (includes kit) Pleat, crinkle, drape, twist, fold and use sculptural effects and heat embossing to create sculpturally experimental fabrics. Open studio project: Students have the opportunity to explore further all the techniques they have learned over the past two weekends screenprinting, shibori and batik to produce a length of fabric or a decorative art piece.
