3 HJF 2018 Overview A showcase by over 500 brands at the three-day sparkling B2B extravaganza by UBM India Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl and Gem Fair (HJF 2018), India s premium B2B jewellery trade show, commenced its 11 th edition on 8th June 2018 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Novotel. A three-day exhibition, (8 th to 10 th June 18), the HJF was one of the biggest gems & jewellery B2B exhibition with participation of over 200 exhibitors comprising jewellery brands, wholesalers, retailers, importers and exporters, jewellery manufacturers, machinery manufacturers, diamond, gemstone, pearl suppliers and traders, precious metal and jewellery mounting traders and suppliers, and representatives from trade and governmental bodies. A stunning array of jewellery set in Victorian, Nizam, Antique, Polki, and Kundan style, Gold Casting, Diamond Jewellery, Silver articles, Silver Jewellery, Pearls and Gems set Jewellery were displayed at the fair. It also had a machinery pavilion consisting of 30 exhibitors displaying leading technology, machinery in jewellery making and allied services. Some of the key highlights of the fair were the Artisans Zone that featured innovative creations of artisans and designers who made distinctive jewellery including miniature products; a Designer Lounge, wherein leading designers from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh displayed their designs and craftsmanship. While a glittering Networking Evening and Fashion Show that highlights the jewellery trends of the season had been organized for Day 2, the fair also witnessed an All State meet of Telangana District Associations on Day 3. The fair is an opportunity for the Indian jewellery market, with a special focus on South India s range of designer jewellery, and provides an excellent platform for buyers and suppliers to connect, network, exchange ideas, discover upcoming trends and generate business opportunities. It attracted well-reputed local and overseas buyers from Dubai, Malaysia, Singapore and many more, reinforcing the expo s position as a proven and trusted sourcing hub for the industry. The 12th Edition of Hyderabad Jewellery & Gem Fair will be held from 14th-16th June, 2019 at HICC Novotel, Hyderabad. This year the event is rightly scheduled just after Akshay tritiya to cater the market needs for wedding season. With the fresh new international format, the show aims to povide expertise in understanding local, national and global markets.

Along with China, India is by far the world s largest importer and consumer of gold. Approximately, per cent of global production is consumed in India with South India being the country s major market. This region is known for its penchant for lustrous and statement jewellery pieces, including Kasulaperu, Temple Jewellery, Managa Malai, Vanki to name a few. UBM India understands this love for sparkle, and through the HJF aims to further boost the morale of this sector. Since jewellery prices may increase due to 3% GST all the Retailers should take the benefit of the current tax slab for their stocks. This year around 200 exhibitors have participated in Hyderabad Jewellery Pearl & Gem Fair out of which around 40 exhibitors are from Hyderabad. We had several international & national exhibitors and buyers at the show thus I can say that the show is taking positive direction.
