Information on the Composition of Ingredients - Product Description: Flowable sulfur. - Dangerous Ingredients: None. 3. Hazardous Identification - Possible Hazards: Harmful if swallowed. Avoid breathing vapour or spray mist. May cause irritation of eyes, nose, throat or skin. May cause skin sensitization reactions in certain individuals. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. 4. First Aid Measures - Inhalation: Move patient to fresh air. If irritation exists, if breathing becomes difficult or in the event of massive inhalation, seek medical attention. - Skin Contact: Rinse thoroughly with plenty soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation/inflammation occurs or if an allergic reaction is noticed. Do not attempt to neutralize with chemicals. - Eye Contact: Rinse slowly and gently with water for 15-20minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation occurs or if an allergic reaction is noticed. - Ingestion: Drink at least two glasses of water. Give one tablespoon of Syrup of Ipecac or an equivalent to induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs, give fluids again. Seek medical attention. 5. Fire Fighting Measures
- Type of Material: Non-flammable liquid - Extinguishing Media: Use all means adequate to fight surrounding fire. Water mist, foam, carbon dioxide and dry chemicals are all suitable. Do not use a direct water stream. - Hazardous Decomposition Products: Sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ) and Hydrogen sulphide (H 2 S). 6. Accidental Release Measures - Environmental Precautions: The available data on this plant nutrient does not indicate any undue hazard to the environment under anticipated use and storage. All work practices must however be aimed at preventing environmental contamination. Do not apply directly to water, and avoid application where runoff may occur. Because of its nutritional nature, this product may cause eutrophication if discharged into water bodies. - Personal Precautions: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the form of latex gloves, safety goggles/face shield, an approved respirator, protective footwear and overalls are recommended. - Destruction and Clean Up: In case of a large spill, protect people by clearing and isolating the affected area. It is necessary to contain spill into the smallest area possible; recovering liquid in an appropriate container (labelling it accordingly if necessary). If the product is clean, use as intended following the original label directions; if contaminated, salvage for proper disposal as waste. Absorb residual product with absorbent substance (i.e. dirt, sand, sawdust) and then scrape up and dispose of appropriately. 7. Handling and Storage - Handling: Avoid breathing vapours or mists; ensure adequate ventilation when handling. - Storage: Store in original labelled container only. Keep lid tightly sealed and store under cool, dry conditions, away from direct sunlight, sources of heat or where freezing is possible. Be sure to store away from chlorates, nitrates and other oxidizing
agents. Store away from children, animals, foods, feeds, seeds and other agricultural products. - Incompatible Materials: Avoid oxidising agents, ammonium Nitrate and Chlorates. 8. Exposure Control/Personal Protective Equipment - TLV: Sulphur - Not established. - Technical Measures/precautions: General ventilation is usually adequate. Local exhaust should be used if needed for safe, comfortable working conditions. - Personal Protection: Respiratory Protection: Hand Protection: Eye Protection: Skin Protection: Prolonged exposure may cause temporary discomfort and irritation of nose, throat and upper respiratory tract. An approved respirator is recommended. As this product could cause irritation to the skin, it is recommended that latex gloves be worn as a precaution during handling. This product may cause eye irritation if contact/exposure occurs. Therefore the use of safety goggles or a face shield is recommended. This product may cause skin irritation/allergic reactions in some individuals. Overalls are recommended to avoid any such reactions. 9. Physical and Chemical Properties - Physical State: Liquid. - Colour: Yellow, creamy. - Odour: Very slight rotten egg odour. - ph: N/A - Moisture (%): N/A - Density (Specific Gravity): 1.38 g/cm 3 - Solubility/Miscibility in Water: Miscible but insoluble. - Partition Coefficient: N/A - Vapour Pressure: 1.06 mm/hg
- Boiling Point: Not established - Melting Point: N/A - Flash Point: >207.2 C - Oxidizing Properties: Avoid strong oxidizing agents, Ammonium Nitrate and Chlorates. - Explosive Properties: This product is not an explosive hazard. However, toxic fumes (SO 2, H 2 S) may be generated at elevated temperatures and flowable sulfur that is allowed to dry and is then pulverized should be treated as sulfur dust. Sulfur dust suspended in air ignites easily and can cause an explosion in confined areas. - Auto-ignition Temperature: N/A 10. Stability and Reactivity - Hazardous Decomposition Products: Sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ) and Hydrogen sulphide (H 2 S) - Materials to Avoid: Oxidizing agents, Ammonium Nitrate and Chlorates. - Conditions to Avoid: N/A 11. Toxological Information - LD 50 Oral (Rat): Sulfur - >5050mg/kg - LD 50 Dermal (Rat): Not established - Skin Irritant (Rabbit): Slightly irritating - Eye Irritant (Rabbit): Minimal irritation in non-washed eyes. - Inhalation LD 50 (rat): > 5.46 mg/ lt air concentration. - Chronic Toxicity: Non-carcinogenic, non-teratogenic, and non-mutagenic or reproductive. 12. Ecological Information The available data on this plant nutrient material does not indicate any undue hazard to the environment, if used correctly and according to the instructions on this MSDS and product label. Any waste due to spillage or leakage should be dealt with appropriately (see Accidental Release Measures). Due to the nutrient value, the product may contribute to eutrophication in water bodies.
13. Disposal Considerations Wastes resulting from the use of this product may be disposed of on site or at an approved waste disposal site. If unaltered by use, the product should be disposed of as advised by your local waste regulatory authority. 14.
