St. Joseph Ministries Issue 2011-2 Summer 2011 Reflection.. Class Schedule Staff Highlights.. Highlights of Student Work. Miscellaneous Offers & Services Tip of the Week. Reflection Sisters of St. Joseph Architectural Stained Glass 1 2 3 4 5 6 Recently, a juried art exhibit entitled Much Ado About Women Portraits in Diversity was held in St. Augustine. The exhibit was part of The Festival of the Muses held in collaboration with St. John s County Cultural Council. Local artists were encouraged to submit artworks that reflected their own self image. I entered my own piece called Breath of God, and I was honored that it was selected to be part of the exhibit. Along with the stained glass, I included the reflection below. Although it specifically refers to women, it applies to all of us as we are all lovingly called to recognize and use our unique gifts. As women of Diversity we are called to discover the many gifts we have been given. Each woman s gifts are so special and essential to the development of our lives and world. These gifts must be developed and used in whatever task or walk of life we are summoned to embrace. We, as women of diversity, also need to embrace the goodness that lies within each of us. We carry the spirit of Gentleness, Peace and Joy. We are called to look deeper into the gentle heart of humankind and make a difference there. Sometimes this call and quest encounters great obstacles and we experience times of darkness and uncertainty. Other times our lives are filled with much happiness, strength to do what is needed and peace-filled ways of getting things done. No matter what time of life or situation we are in, however pleasant or difficult we must always remember, WE ARE THE BREATH OF GOD. With God s love, Sister Diane Couture 1
