DEST NY www.destinyman.com DECEMBER 2015 ISSUE 47 BOLD DISTINGUISHED YOU R34,90 (VAT INCL) TO-DO 12047 HOW BANKABLE IS YOUR BUSINESS IDEA? HOLIDAY GUIDE SHO T LEFT WHERE TO GO, WHAT TO DO 9 772073 078002 R34,90 (VAT INCL) SOUTH AFRICA N$R34.90 NAMIBIA NOMPENDULO MKATSHWA LEADING FROM THE FRONT WINNING LETTER Flying the flag MAN THE NEW RULES OF BOOZE 20 YEARS ON AND STILL IN THE GROOVE OSKIDO LUXE GUIDE 16 PAGES OF THE FINER THINGS IN LIFE DECKS&DREAMS Reading Nompendulo Mkhatswa s Exit Interview in the December 2015 issue put my mind at ease. Contrary to the popular belief that the youngsters of today are a lost generation without direction, thanks to young people like her, we can safely say that the future of this country is in good hands. Women have played a crucial role in South African politics. Which South Africans of a certain vintage can forget the 1956 women s march against pass laws? The #FeesMustFall campaign has reminded the nation that women are capable of leading from the front. They have done so exceptionally well in the past, while taking care of their families when their partners were a part of the migrant labour system or remaining resilient in the midst of patriarchy. To the mbokodos of SA, keep flying the flag high! Edward Jimla, via email The Master at Work cover feature in the December 2015 issue was inspiring. Many people who have hustled their way to success are selfinvolved and do nothing to uplift young people. Oskido, on the other hand, is one in a million, because his record label has groomed many musicians. The most important thing about success is not what we achieve for ourselves, but the difference we have managed to make in others lives. Celebrities generally come and go, which is why Oskido, who has real staying power, is so inspiring. HOUSE HOLIDAY I was surprised to find my 19-yearold younger brother, a confessed music magazine junkie, reading DESTINY MAN recently, before seeing South African house legend Oskido on the cover. I am a loyal reader and have noticed that the December 2015 issue strikes a chord with a broader and younger readership than previous efforts. It has a casual, holiday feel to it that I enjoyed thoroughly. I was initially hesitant about buying the issue when I saw the cover, but I m glad I did because it was good to learn about the business aspects of the house music that we all jive to at parties. The Luxe Guide was also really useful in that it helped me hint at what I would like for Christmas to my family and friends. It was a must-have holiday issue. Jackie Sole, Pretoria LUXE GUIDE LUXE GUIDE PHOTOGRAPHER S ASSISTANT: EBEN DU PLESSIS. FASHION ASSISTANT: MPUMI SHANDU From the exquisitely crafted canister to the superb spirit inside, Remy Martin Louis XIII Cognac, R45 000, is heavenly stuff that will force you to distinguish friends from acquaintances when you choose to indulge in its pleasures. Made from the finest eau-de-vie, ranging in age from 40-100 years, it comes in a suitably regal leather case. Photographer: Justin Dingwall He is not driven by fame, but by the love of the game. This is why he loves seeing aspiring musicians achieve success. Those who are in it purely for the fame struggle to bounce back when they have a setback. I encourage young people who want to succeed to take a leaf out of Oskido s book. When choosing a goal, it helps to identify your true passion and chase it with everything you have. It s detrimental to divide your attention. SA needs more people who focus on empowering others. Way to go, Oskido! Matome Kubu, Pretoria WRITEin &WIN!
