ECONOMIC CHALLENGES Shrinking margins in today s oil and gas markets have forced operators to lower total cost of ownership and reduce non-productive time (NPT). Easier said than done. Copyright SPM Flow Control 2016
OPERATIONAL CHALLENGES In this tough economic environment, hydraulic fracturing has become increasingly complex. Abundance of iron on-site has expanded footprint. Multiple strings, twists, and connections sap performance and increase pressure drop and erosion. Additional iron has increased rig-up time and labor costs. Every connection is a potential leak path. Multiple lines have created trip hazards. Every minute of NPT is profit lost.
We decided to simplify everything.
The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. We bring that radical idea to the frac site.

The Simplified Frac Iron System A safer, more reliable, and streamlined design that dramatically reduces the amount of iron on a frac site. Fewer potential leak paths 88% reduction in connections per well from the zipper to the frac stack Extended equipment life linear-flow design minimizes pressure drop while maximizing power Safety and simplicity standard API-6A flange connections replace hammerunion connections, minimizing field maintenance Reduced labor costs less rig-up time and maintenance required Greater profitability reduced NPT, so operations commence and finish faster
Promises are one thing. Proof is another.
Field tested. An independent operator in Canada had installed a competitor s version of a single-line zipper tie-in. After only three days, the competitor s equipment failed and had to be completely dismantled. A trial version of WEIR s Simplified Frac Iron System was subsequently installed on two wells, at 40 stages per well.
Analyses, predictions, and results. Prior to operation, a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis was conducted to predict equipment erosion. It revealed the following: WEIR s linear design predicted approximately 70% less wear and 900 psi less pressure drop than similar systems. Estimated erosion of the 5 tie-in pipeline would only be 0.003 during the single-well frac. Estimated erosion of the 7 trunk line would only be 0.004 throughout the entire five-well frac. Estimated erosion of the 7 cross in the trunk line was only 0.039. Less horsepower would be required to drive the pumps, ensuring that pressure measured at the surface would reflect what was delivered to the formation. During a maintenance shutdown, an additional Ultrasonic Thickness Survey (UTS) indicated very little erosion on any of the components approximately 12 percent of allowable limits.
Field proven. After 14 days, the Simplified Frac Iron System completed all 80 stages with minimal pipe wear, lasting more than three times longer than a competitor s installation.* *Configuration consisted of Seaboard Vertical Zipper Manifold, Seaboard Frac Stack, and Seaboard OSL Frac Connection utilizing gate valves.

The Seaboard Vertical Zipper Manifold Advantages stacked high. Single, large-bore outlet replaces the 3-6 tie-in lines found on traditional manifolds, eliminating potential leak paths and hazards. Spools with rotating flanges allow for quick alignment with the Seaboard OSL Frac Connection. Secure skid with vertically adjustable legs and integral lifting points allow for quick alignment to trunk line. Vertical design reduces footprint and prevents the accumulation of erosive proppant around valves. Temperature rating: L-U.

Comparisons to traditional configurations assume six frac lines per well and, in both cases, the manifold will be joined together with a flanged trunk line.
The Seaboard One Straight Line (OSL) Frac Connection Taking less even further. Patent-pending design allows for quick alignment between the Seaboard Vertical Zipper Manifold and the Seaboard Frac Stack. A single, controlled-torque connection replaces the 4-6 flow lines and safety restraints on a typical configuration. Fewer connections significantly reduce NPT, hazards, and potential leak paths. Single, direct line of flow minimizes fluid friction and pressure drop. Design employs standard API-6A gaskets and accommodates 4 to 7 connections at 15,000 psi.
The Seaboard One Straight Line (OSL) Frac Connection Patent-pending design, for use with the Seaboard Vertical Zipper Manifold and the Seaboard Frac Stack Employs standard API 6A gaskets for seal faces Accommodates from 4 up to 7 connections up to 15,000 psi Fit-for-purpose system can be used for any 2 3 1 1 Single, large-bore inlet and outlet 2 Flanged vs. hammerunion connections 3 Linear flow minimizing fluid friction well and tailored to any condition or basin A 2017 CFD analysis revealed approximately 70% less erosion compared to similar single-line designs from leading competitors 1 Available for rent, with service centers in every basin 1 Refers to the combined configuration of the Seaboard Vertical Zipper Manifold, the Seaboard One Straight Line Frac Connection, and the Seaboard Frac Stack. Comparisons to traditional configurations assume six frac lines per well and, in both cases, the manifold will be joined together with a flanged trunk line.
The Seaboard Frac Stack Simplicity finds the sweet spot. An adjustable-height spool and rotating flange on frac tree allows for quick alignment with the the Seaboard OSL Frac Connection. A single large-bore inlet replaces the multiple tie-in lines on a conventional frac tree, reducing non- productive time, labor costs, potential leak paths, and safety hazards. Design employs standard API-6A gaskets and accommodates 4 to 7 connections at 15,000 psi. Options include grease manifold, frac-ball launcher, grease manifold, and coiled-tubing frac heads.
The Seaboard Frac Stack 3 Designed for use with the Seaboard OSL Frac Connection and Seaboard Vertical Zipper Manifold Employs standard API-6A gaskets for seal faces Accommodates from 4 up to 7 connections up to 15,000 psi fit-for-purpose system can be used for any well and tailored to any condition or basin ideal for demanding frac applications 1 1 Adjustable-height spool 2 Rotating flange 3 Single, large-bore inlet Field services include installation, on-site testing, operation, maintenance, removal, torque and testing A 2017 CFD analysis revealed approximately 70% less erosion compared to similar single-line designs from leading competitors 1 2 Available for rent, with service centers in every basin; fully inspected and recertified after every job 1 Refers to the combined configuration of the Seaboard Vertical Zipper Manifold, the Seaboard One Straight Line Frac Connection, and the Seaboard Frac Stack. The Seaboard Grease Manifold Innovation in lubrication. Designed to accommodate gate or plug valves, the Seaboard Grease Manifold improves safety and efficiency. The manifold magnetically mounts to the valves on both the Seaboard Vertical Zipper and the Seaboard Frac Stack. Grease pumping and distribution is controlled at one manifold, reducing labor costs and eliminating the need to perform activities at dangerous elevations. System can be configured for any number of valves on any frac tree, requiring no modification of existing valves. Rated up to 15,000 psi, all components meet or exceed applicable API standards.
Plug Valves A decades-proven technology, built into the Seaboard Vertical Zipper Manifold and the Seaboard Frac Stack. Easily maintained, hydraulically or manually operated, they offer greater durability. Plug valves require less than 2% of the grease needed for gate valves, reducing labor and material costs Lighter and more compact, they have a smaller hydraulic actuator for faster cycle time. Closure requires minimal force, eliminating the potential of valve-cavity pressure lock.
Less is More. WEIR can help you reduce NPT and lower your total cost of ownership with a solution that s as simple as it is revolutionary. 88% fewer connections mean fewer potential leak paths and less NPT. Less iron on site reduces rig-up time and maintenance costs. Linear design maximizes power while minimizing erosive pressure drop. Fit-for-purpose and ideal for demanding applications, the system can be used for any well and tailored to any condition. Equipment is available for rent, fully inspected and re-certified after every job. Field services include installation, on-site testing, operation, maintenance, removal, torque and testing.
