drom s temporary exhibition Little Big Things opened its doors in Palazzo Mocenigo, Venice Baierbrunn/Venice, September 10 th, 2014 On September 5 th, the flacon exhibition Little Big Things celebrated its pre-opening in the presence of selected guests, including journalists, art lovers and experts. Since September 6 th, 2014 the exhibition is open to the general public - for one season only - within the walls of the museum for textiles and perfume, the Palazzo Mocenigo in Venice. The exhibition is the result of a long-time collaboration between drom fragrances, the Italian perfume and personal care giant Mavive Spa, and the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, to which the Museo di Palazzo Mocenigo belongs. The outstanding exhibition of astonishing and rare perfume flacons includes a selection of the most precious pieces of the impressive Storp Collection a collection that holds more than 3000 rare pieces across all eras, from the Antiquity to the present time. The multisensory exhibition is divided into four main sections, from sacred to profane, conjuring up forgotten emotions and those too often buried in the collective memory. drom fragrances has given creative freedom to seven perfumers to create olfactive signatures on the Divine, the Love and the Protection themes of the exhibition. For each chapter the visitor will discover a fragrance inspired by the flacons. The private flacon collection, which was initiated in 1911 by drom founder Bruno Storp and his wife, was kept secret within the rooms of the in-house flacon museum at the drom fragrances headquarters in Munich for 100 years. Since 2010, there have only been two exhibitions that exposed an exquisite selection of the Storp Collection, one in Paris and one in New York.
In 2014, the descendants and current drom owners Dr. Ferdinand Storp and Dr. Andreas Storp believe that the Palazzo Mocenigo in Venice provides the perfect frame to stage the exquisite selection of Little Big Things. Dr. Ferdinand Storp describes this special collaboration: Venice as a city of arts and craftsmanship provides the perfect stage for Little Big Things, an outstanding exhibition of flacon bottles, all being relevant pieces of art and craftsmanship. The fascinating thing about these scent bottles is that they are still able to tell the same story that the fragrance inside these treasures told at their time. The fragrance may have evaporated hundreds of years ago on the velvet skin of a beautiful lady, but you can still see the flacon and you can imagine her story. This is again another parallel to Venice where every building, every corner, every stone is telling its own history. The exhibition Little Big Things is shown from September 6 th, 2014 through January 6 th, 2015 and serves as an exceptional testimony to the fine art of perfumery throughout the centuries.
