A Men s Collection 1 Day Training CONCEPT: The right tools equals the right results. CONNECT What is your hobby? Talk about your favorite hobby and the tools to ensure its successful outcome. Examples: Knitting Scrap booking Wood working Working on cars Painting Playing tennis DJ ATTEND Facilitate Discuss: What tools related to hobbies. Ask the participants: What are some of your hobbies you enjoy? Facilitate questions: What tools or hobbies are required for your hobby or skill? Why are they important? What do they allow you to do better? What would happen if you used the wrong tool or used the tool incorrectly? IMAGE Connection tools to outcomes Show images of outcomes such as cut paper edge, cared wood or finished painting. Also show several men s hair cuts. Ask the participants to describe what tools they think were needed to produce the desired results. With just about any hobby, you will get the best results by choosing the right tools and using them properly. A INFORM dvd Play DVD technical overview for Men s Cutting Curriculum. Facilitate Review: Tools of the Trade handout. Participant Break: 15 minutes. dvd Play DVD from DNA Collection. Introduce participants to DNA Collection. Share mood boards. PRACTICE Look 1 George: Using a see and do format, demonstrate the primary shape for the George look. Instruct the participants the hair should be 2 inches longer than the image so we can continue to cut on the mannequin the rest of the day. Note: This will still capture the key points of the look. Facilitate Demonstration: Participants will cut on their mannequin while you offer coaching. Demonstrate the transition top and front. Instruct participants to do the same while you coach. Demonstrate the detail and finish. Instruct participants to do the same while you coach. Include product application and appropriate men s styling techniques as outlined in the step-by-steps. Lunch: Return from lunch. Look 2 Caleb: Facilitate Demonstration: Using a see and do format, demonstrate the primary shape for the Caleb look. After demonstration is complete, participants will cut on their mannequin while facilitator offers coaching. Demonstrate the transition top and front. Include product application and appropriate men s styling techniques as outlined in the step-by-steps. REFINE Different tools for different outcomes. Ask participants: What different outcomes did you notice when you used a scissor vs. a clipper? PERFORM Ask participants: Fill out a service blueprint for one of their current male guest that they intend to use one of these looks on. Ask for volunteers to share their service blueprint with the class. Note: Service blueprint are in the classroom handout section. Facilitate Discuss: Discuss how participants can increase their salon sales with men s hair cuts and Shave Rituals on the next page. Consult with your male guests while filling out the Aveda Men Pure-Formance Purescription Pad. A Men Skin and Shave Rituals 1. Introduce the ritual Tell the guest that he will get a complimentary Aveda Men Pure- Formance Skin and Shave Ritual during his shampoo. Tell him that he could save time in the morning and achieve amazing results with the Aveda Men Pure-Formance line. 2. Cleanse and condition Shampoo with Aveda Men Pure-Formance Shampoo. Wrap a warm towel infused with Aveda Men Pure-Formance Composition around the guest s face and leave it on while conditioning his hair. Tell your guest that the towel is infused with Aveda Men Pure-Formance Composition, which soothes the skin and scalp. Condition his hair with Aveda Men Pure-Formance Conditioner. Rinse and remove the warm towel. 3. Aveda Men Pure-Formance Dual Action Aftershave Apply a dime-size amount of Aveda Men Pure-Formance Dual Action Aftershave to the back of your hand and slowly massage it onto your guest s entire face (for about 30 seconds). Tell your guest that the Dual Action Aftershave you re applying does 2 different things. It helps reduce razor burn. But it s also a great daily moisturizer. 4. Aveda Men Pure-Formance Shave Cream Have your guest sit up. Then apply a dime-size amount of Aveda Men Pure-Formance Shave Cream to the back of his hand. Invite him to notice the texture and aroma. Tell him that the Shave Cream you ve applied helps give a closer, more comfortable shave, with less skin irritation. Wipe off the Shave Cream. 5. Guest response. Ask your guest how his face feels now. Compared to how it usually feels after shaving. Ask if he has any questions. Ask if he s interested in a take-home skin and shave regimen.
