METAL TRIBE
THE IDEA Jagged metals protrude from their bodies. The Metal Tribe is cold, fierce and manipulative. There is no colour, there is no warmth. They appear unwashed or unkept yet can seduce you with the slightest gesture. They toy with you, laugh at you and make you shuffle uncomfortably. You want to be a part of their world, but you know you never will be. They lure you in far enough to breathe you in and spit you back out. THE AIM To showcase up and coming jewellery designers in a rough, dishevelled yet appealing commercial context. To associate the pieces with an image that people would want to buy into. THE DESIRED RESULT Six black and white high contrast photos which could be used for a brand lookbook. If time and equipment permits, we would like to create some cinemagraphs which could be used for the cover of a digital lookbook or for promotion in an online context.
THE JEWELLERY DESIGNER ONE Rebecca Ellis Onyett All that Glistens I have used this phrase as the title for this collection as although my pieces are made from precious metals the meaning behind them is of a more sinister theme of death and decay. http://www.rebeccaellisonyett.co.uk/#!all-that-glistens/photostackergallery2=0
THE JEWELLERY DESIGNER TWO Andreea Bogdan - Scription For my current collection, Scription, I drew inspiration from objects which are instilled with nostalgia. Old fountain pen nibs were cast in recycled silver and through the means of pattern repetition and juxtaposition, unforeseen forms were revealed. The pieces of jewellery have a strong visual impact stemming from the reinterpretation of the pen nib, an item reminiscent of forgotten memories. http://thecasscollective.weebly.com/andreea-bogdan.html
MODEL Wanting someone who looks like she could be the leader of the Metal Tribe. Not your average beautiful model. Someone you need to look twice at. Long dark hair or blonde messy hair, big eyebrows, grungier look. Would love tattoos. Need to have nice nails and comfortable with partial nudity. Also someone who can play up in front of the camera.
PHOTOGRAPHER Someone versatle, willing to expand their portfolio and someone who I work well with. After the shoot with Steve at Michael's studio, we decided to work together once again.
LOCATION Michael Harvey's Studio Grey and white background Lighting will be doing CU and MCU shots, also some sitting down in a pool of light Two sets will be organised. One for the stills and one for later to play with cinemagraphs ADDRESS: 215-217 Coldharbour Lane London SW9 8RU NEAREST TRANSPORT: Loughborough Junction
STYLING What they are going to wear and how they are going to wear it The clothing looks like it has been picked up off the floor, after being thrown off from a big night out. It's their lover's unwashed shirt, it's creased and sometimes ripped. It's careless, revealing, dirty and loose. Clothing items: Loose cape, denim button up shirt, hooded black jacket, fur coat, loose singlet with gaping sides Props: Cigarettes, leather strands to wrap around hands,
HAIR The hair is long, undone, unwashed to the point it almost looks like it could turn into dreadlocks. It hangs around the face with a slight messy wave.
MAKEUP Nude makeup with dark eyes, thick eyebrows that look unkept, full eyelashes, no lipstick. It's makeup that's been worn the night before.
SHOOT STYLE Poses and cropping The shots are close up and mid close ups mainly focus on the top third of the body. Some white space behind is good as the idea is that it would be used for a lookbook so some shots need room for text. We can play with focus but the jewellery must always remain in focus. Black and white strong contrast. Lots of attitude. FRAME SUGGESTIONS Fingers in a gun pose to temple One hand over half of face, peering through fingers One side of shirt covering breast Big jacket with hood shadow covers half of face so just see mouth or nose Back to us hands hugging herself or over back of hair Hands in front ushering towards camera hands in focus but face out or vice versa Pulling down lip WHAT written on inside of the lip Holding up cape behind her like flying, small crop top underneath Sprawled out towards camera hands in front and hair tipped over onto the ground, looks as if she is being dragged away by a spirit, model could look up Up in smoke - cigarettes
