Step-by-Step Guide CND Shellac SpaPedicure Holiday Twinkle Toes Heat up the season and treat feet to a warm sugar scrub to banish dry winter skin and relieve holiday stress with peppermint and sandalwood oils. Celebrate the festivities with a sparkling coat of CND s Shellac Power Polish & glitter Additives. Tis the season to be bright! STEP 1: Cleanse and Shape 1. Begin every service with a refreshing hand wash with a Scentsations Wash and warm water. Cleanse your hands with CoolBlue. 2. If applying CND Shellac, wash client s feet with liquid soap and warm water. Towel dry. Proceed to Step 2. 3. Add one scoop of Earth Mineral Bath to a foot bath or 2 3 scoops to a motorized whirlpool tub. Agitate with hands to dissolve.* 4. Soak feet for 3 5 minutes to cleanse and soothe.* 5. Remove both feet and towel dry.* STEP 2: Remove Color, Reduce Length & File 1. Remove any existing nail color using an acetone-based polish remover (CND Shellac Nourishing Remover or ScrubFresh ) and a plasticbacked lint-free pad. 2. Re-assess the length and shape to determine redesign needs. 3. Trim length with a properly cleaned and disinfected nail clipper or sharp nipper. Follow the natural C-curve of the nail with small cuts when trimming. 4. Refine the shape of the natural nail with the 240-grit side of a Kanga File. File the extension edge of toenails parallel to the end of the toe. Gently round the corners to help prevent ingrown toenails. STEP 4: Apply CND Shellac Base Coat 1. Shake the bottle to blend. STEP 3: Cuticle Removal 1. Apply a pearl-size drop of CuticleAway evenly around the cuticle area of each nail. 2. Gently slide a cuticle pusher along the nail plate toward the eponychium area and along the lateral folds to lift and loosen any cuticle. Wipe excess CuticleAway from the nail plate and surrounding skin using a plastic-backed, lint-free pad. 3. Use a curette to check and remove any cuticle hiding along the sidewalls and the corners of the eponychium area. 4. Use a manicure nipper to carefully remove the loosened cuticle tissue, as well as any loose pieces of dead skin or hangnails. 5. Place the foot back in the bath to neutralize and remove CuticleAway. 2. Apply one thin layer to the nail surface and extension edge of all five nails on one foot. a. Remove the applicator brush from the bottle and wipe it against the bottle s neck to drain excess product from the brush. b. Stay parallel to the natural nail and place the brush in the center of the nail slightly away from the cuticle line. c. Gently push the brush toward the cuticle line and glide down one side to the extension edge of the nail. d. Lift the brush and repeat on the other side of the nail, followed by the same steps to coat the center. e. Be sure to encase the extension edge to ensure long wear. 3. Cure all five toes for ten seconds in the CND UV Lamp or Brisa Lamp. For a more comfortable fit, the hand tray may be removed. 4. Repeat the process on the other foot. 2. Apply one very thin layer of CND Shellac Color in Tinsel Toast to the nail surface and extension edge of all five nails on one foot. (This layer will be slightly semi-sheer if applied correctly). a. Remove the applicator brush from the bottle and wipe it against the bottle s neck to drain excess product from the brush. b. Stay parallel to the natural nail and place the brush in the center of the nail slightly away from the cuticle line. c. Gently push the brush toward the cuticle line and glide down one side to the extension edge of the nail. d. Lift the brush and repeat on the other side of the nail, followed by the same steps to coat the center. e. Be sure to encase the extension edge to ensure long wear. 3. Cure all five toes for two minutes in the CND UV Lamp or Brisa Lamp. 4. Repeat the process on the other foot. 5. Apply a second thin layer of CND Shellac Color in Tinsel Toast to the surface and extension edge of all five nails using the same process. This coat provides full coverage. 6. Cure all five toes for two minutes in the CND UV Lamp or Brisa Lamp. 7. Repeat the process on the other foot. STEP 6: Apply CND Additives or Glitter 1. Lightly moisten a CND gel oval brush with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol and dip into a jar of CND Additives Shimmering Silver and apply onto the tacky layer of CND Shellac to create the design. If more coverage or sparkle is needed, repeat the process. STEP 7: Apply CND Shellac Top Coat 1. Shake the bottle to blend. 2. Apply one thin layer to the nail surface and extension edge on all five nails on one foot. a. Remove the applicator brush from the bottle and wipe it against the bottle s neck to drain excess product from the brush. b. Stay parallel to the natural nail and place the brush in the center of the nail slightly away from the cuticle line. c. Gently push the brush toward the cuticle line and glide down one side to the extension edge of the nail. d. Lift the brush and repeat on the other side of the nail, followed by the same steps to coat the center. e. 3. Cure all five toes for two minutes in the CND UV Lamp or Brisa Lamp. d. Place foot into the foot bath. Rinse off any excess Earth Warming Scrub. 4. Repeat the process on the other foot. 5. Remove the top film (sticky inhibition layer) with a plastic-backed, lint-free pad soaked with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol. STEP 8: Exfoliate STEP 9: Intense Callus Treatment (optional) 1. Carefully apply Sea Serum to calluses and dry spots on the foot with a plastic-backed cotton pad or spatula. Rinse fingers after applying. 1. To slough away dead skin cells and warm the body and soul, wet the leg up to the knee and, massage a scoop of Earth Warming Scrub onto the top of one foot and leg up to the knee, using both hands. Once activated with water this sugar scrub will provide instant warmth. a. Effleurage. Hold the ankle with one hand and perform a long, effleurage stroke with your free hand up the front of the calf and down the back of the leg applying even pressure to exfoliate dry skin. Switch hands and repeat b. Petrissage. Next, start at the ankle, and with your thumbs on the top of the calf and your fingers on the back of the leg, work toward the knee, alternating hands with deep friction or squeezing movements to stimulate the client s senses. Repeat c. Vibration. Finish exfoliation on the ankles and top of the foot with quick, circular vibration movements. Move from the ankle to the knee 2. Wrap the foot in a clean towel and let sit for 5 minutes. 3. Unwrap the foot and exfoliate callus areas of the foot with a Callus Smoother in circular motions to reduce and smooth calluses. 4. Rinse and towel dry the foot. STEP 10: Massage 1. Rub Celebrate Scentsations Lotion into your palms and smooth from the foot to the knee. a. Effleurage. Hold the ankle with one hand and perform a long, effleurage stroke with your free hand up the front of the calf and down the back of the leg applying even pressure to exfoliate dry skin. b. Petrissage. Next, start at the ankle, and with your thumbs on the top of the calf and your fingers on the back of the leg, work toward the knee, alternating hands with deep friction or squeezing movements to stimulate the client's senses. Repeat three times. c. Vibration. With quick, circular vibration movements, move from the ankle to the knee d. Friction. Slide your hands down to the ankle and support the heel with one hand. With the other, slide up the bottom of the foot and place the tip of your thumb on the fleshy base between the big and second toe. With even pressure, slide your thumb downward between the toes, then slide back, pinching the fleshy area between your thumb and index finger. Repeat this step three times between all toes on the foot. e. Petrissage. Slide one hand to the top of the foot for support and, with the other, form a fist and use slow circular petrissage movements to work the entire arch and heel. Repeat this step h. With the palm of your hand, glide over the sole of the foot from the heel through the arch with firm pressure. i. Slide back down the foot with the knuckle of the same hand. Repeat steps h and i j. Continue supporting the foot and slide your hand to the big toe. With a downward motion, squeeze the toe toward the tip. Repeat on all toes k. Finish the massage with a feather-light fingertip stroke up the top of the foot and leg to the knee, then down the back of the leg. Repeat 2. Condition the nails and surrounding soft tissue with SolarOil and send a bottle home with the client for daily conditioning. 3. Pre-book your client for a re-shellac appointment in two weeks. f.
