SYNOPSIS The "Castro" was an occupied building in Rome, Italy. A shelter for those left behind, for many people a home which none of them owned. For more than ten years it has been a chance of life for many families. Yesterday it was tolerated, today it exists no more. More than a year in the making to reveal the everyday life of a community living in extraordinary circumstances. The Castro is like a Tower of Babel telling his own story with a thousand infections but the same semantics: the denial of rights, the unresolved needs. PAOLO CIVATI - BIOGRAPHY Graduated from the Accademia Nazionale D'Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico in Rome. Alumni of the Ecole des Maîtres directed by Franco Quadri, he has worked with many companies and directors, among which: Teatro Del Carretto, Giorgio Barberio Corsetti, Mario Martone, Manuela Cherubini, Carlo Lizzani, Jan Fabre. He made his debut in theatre as author and director of Luogo di Niente winning the Claudio Gora award. His play Emoticon won the Save the talents award. He has directed Giuseppe Battiston in the play Othello-Lost in Cyprus, which opened the Shakespearian Festival at the Roman Theatre in Verona. His play I conigli non hanno le ali is currently being performed. He wrote the film treatment Questi son signori with Giulia Moriggi, of which a teaser was shot starring Vinicio Marchioni. His documentary Castro is a finalist for the Premio Solinas Documentario per il cinema 2014 and it has hust been premiered at Festival dei Popoli 2016 where it has been awarded as Best Italian Dcoumentary and won also the Audience Award. He is currently also working on the new production for theater "David", with Luigi Diberti and Giorgio Marchesi.
