Uniform/Dress Code At Bicester Technology Studio, it is essential for students to look smart and professional and act as ambassadors for the school at all times. Students will wear formal business dress that is commonly worn by staff working in a professional office environment. BTS will also also agree variations to support a flexible approach for students to dress in accordance with their cultural and religious beliefs. In the case that a student has unfortunately broken this guidance, the final decision on whether a uniform standard is not being met will be made by a senior member of the staff team. Student Dress Policy Introduction Bicester Technology Studio (BTS) is an educational environment that will mirror the work environment to ensure students are prepared for their future careers. Aim At BTS students will be expected to dress in business wear. This will allow student to align themselves more closely to the world of work. The dress code is designed to: Promote a sense of pride in the BTS in line with our ethos, values and beliefs. Encompasses a sense of community and belonging. Supports positive behaviour and discipline. Is practical, smart and business-like. It identifies students within BTS. Prevents students from coming to the BTS in fashion or designer label clothes that could be distracting in lessons or create a sense of competition. Students feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance and helps nurture cohesion between different groups of students. We require all employees and students at BTS to adhere to our Business Dress Policy: Both males and females are required to dress in a professional business-like manner. Shoes must be plain coloured all leather shoes. Females are required to wear formal smart trousers or a dress/skirt of reasonable length with a smart, appropriate top and jacket. Shoes must be smart and of a height suitable for the planned activities of the day: open toed, flip-flop or Ugg-style boots are not considered appropriate or safe. Males must wear a shirt and tie with formal smart trousers and jacket. The Principal may authorise the removal of the tie depending on the type of activity being carried out. Hair should be neat and tidy. Headgear worn for religious purposes is permitted. Facial coverings for religious reasons are expected to be removed whilst at the BTS to ensure individuals are identifiable. Any jewellery worn should not be excessive or a health and safety hazard. Earrings may be worn taking into account health and safety, however no other jewellery worn through body piercing should be visible, with the exception of religious requirements. Personal adornment of all descriptions should be kept to a minimum to reflect the professional, business-like ethos of the BTS.

Any tattoos should not be visible to others whilst at the BTS or when representing the BTS in any capacity. No badges other than name badges and the BTS pin badge should be worn whilst at the BTS or when representing the BTS in any capacity. The BTS Lanyard should be worn at all times for health and safety reasons Certain items are not permitted at the BTS under any circumstances; examples of such are given below: Jeans or torn trousers Casual sports clothing (unless appropriate for a sport lesson) Sweatshirts, hoodies or T-shirts bearing slogans or symbols Headphones whilst walking around the campus Trainers or flip-flops Strapless tops Overly tight or revealing clothes, including mini-skirts, excessively low-cut tops or garments revealing the midriff Students are expected to attend BTS in business dress every day, including visits and trips, unless a specific dress code has been given. In serious cases where in the opinion of the Principal a student s appearance is unacceptable, the student may be required to return home to change. In these circumstances, the parent will be contacted and informed of the situation prior to the student leaving site. PE Kit PE will be compulsory for all year 10 and 11 students and optional for students in year 12 and 13. The expectation will be that all students will wear a BTS PE polo shirt for PE lessons, all other items of BTS branded PE Kit are optional. Polo shirt Shorts Jumper Tracksuit Waterproof jacket Sports Rucksack All branded uniform and PE Kit items will be available to purchase from Trysports online shop. Students who are persistently without all of the required equipment for school will be issued with a Detention to serve at lunchtime.
